Each time a message, an article, or even a member is reported, the reports are tallied until they hit a threshold. If they reach that threshold a message is sent internally and that item will be closed and the account that posted it (or the member itself) will be closed.
It's about getting a group consensus.

That's what I thought. Now allow me to make a suggestion.
Please change that from group consensus.
You should add to the algorithm that also includes :
+ how many articles the person (who reports) has written)
+ how many previous days in a row they've logged in
+ overall reputation
Or, you could simply grant someone who is has obviously been heavily invested in the site with the power that when they mark a message as spam or trolling it is then deleted. Obviously, if a message is then deleted improperly the original message owner can petition.
This will allow you to get rid of messages the same way cities must be vigilant about getting rid of graffiti. Cities know if they just paint over it and keep painting over it, the offenders stop.
That's what I want with this system. The person who posted this message ( The Lounge[^] ) should've had it deleted immediately to send the message that s/he cannot use the forum that way.
The obvious spam is going to stay on my article for a long time because no one else is going to read that comment.
That's my two cents. thanks,

IIRC, we've already tried something like that. Even the highest-rep members* can (and do) make mistakes, so it's better to have a consensus than to let a single member kill a message or user with a single vote.
If you think a message or a user needs to be removed, then you should report it in the Spam and Abuse Watch[^] forum as well as hitting the "spam" / "abuse" flag.

This is baked in. Reporting requires status.

We have this in the form of the Protectors and Mentors.

Sorry, but no. I'll agree his post makes about as much sense as a pie floater[^] but that doesn't mean it should be deleted. If I started down the path of censoring posts due to their obtuseness then it would never end.

Yeah APPLY for citizenship or suggest to the hamsters that perhaps another participant nuance is needed, like "Pusher".

Well OK then...
TBH, that doesn't sound so bad. I've seen worse things (like boiled Lima Beans with Tabasco sauce, pickles, and garlic. The thing smelled horrible).

Could be me - when you mouse over the title bar on most pages:
"home articles quick answers" etc you'll get a popup / drop down menu. In firefox (as I'm typing this), behavior is correct, I can scroll down and select something.
On chrome, as soon as a leave the heading - say discussions - the drop down menu disappears. IE 11 behaves the same way.
ideas?

Well, this morning it was chronic. Put my machine to sleep, moved locations, now seems to be working.

It's not the first time this issue has been raised and I've seen it myself. It seems to be an intermittent issue maybe only happening 2% of the time, but it does happen.

When you upvote a post you get a message. It used to state the total rating, but now it says: You voted X. Rating is now Y upvotes , which can be a bit confusing. (In my example, I voted 5, and there were 4 votes, so I though there was a downvoter at first).
It this intended? If so, could the message be changed to be a little more clear?

Would "thanks for the vote. There are now 5 updatesupvotes" be clearer?
