Thanks for saying that, but I getting caching fixed is very high on my list. I'm (rightly) embarrassed about our kinda lame caching. It's only, you know, the most effective form of optimisation and improved user experience and all that...

I was editing a reply a few minutes ago when suddenly the editor completely stopped responding. I couldn't type, couldn't insert a smiley, couldn't change the cursor position with either keys or mouse, couldn't select text with CTRL-A (didn't think to try this with the mouse). I initially thought the tab had locked up and opened a new one to retype my message in; but it stalled on loading for a minute or two (chronic issue with my connection at work). When the new reply tab finally did open I was able to edit the original again.
I'm assuming something in your preview script is misbehaving and doing blocking network IO instead of working asynchronously and being properly web 2.0 buzzword compliant.
This happened using FF13 (again blame my employer for the obsolete version).
Edit: This seems vaguely familiar, I'm thinking it's something I found and reported when the feature was first enabled; but trying to find the original would be more trouble than it seems worth now.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

I've seen the same thing with my antique IE8, the stall seems to happen when downloading 3rd party banner images after the main page load appears complete but in my case the mouse does still work.

Ok, with 4 people confirming the issue I have to ask if it's a widespread problem and I'm just the first person to point out the emperor is naked (in which case corporate IT may be due an apology); or has a shortage of silly threads on the lounge resulted in your all goofing off by yanking your network cables?

I don't see it often, and it usually only lasts about 2-3 min. before clearing up.

This can happen after a site deploy - which I did around the time you would have seen this issue.

I've made some changes to make it properly web 2.0 buzzword compliant. I'll deploy in a second.

I appreciate your touching base about your proactive response to problems and the agile process which allows for their rapid deployment.

I think we're on the same page on this one. I'm always happy to onboard your feedback, and we're always incentivated to do rapid turn-arounds on these things.

Hi,
Today I posted an answer to a question, I clicked one time on the "Submit solution" button.
After a few seconds, I saw that I tried to post the answer 3 times, but it was unsuccessful.
"We have tried to add your answer 3 times without success. Our servers are just a little overworked. Sorry."
I clicked again on the button, and my answer was submitted successfully. But in my recent rep history, I saw that I got 6 times +10 points.
[EDIT]
I posted another answer, and I got 3 times the message (so I clicked 3 times on the button). I refreshed the page, and I saw my answer was submitted successfully (but I got the error message, and in my rep history, I got 90 points )
[SECOND EDIT]
Currently, there're many members logged on (51,997). Could that be the problem?
In some cases, my signature will be longer than my message...

Judging by the number of questions posted here over the last week or so about this same issue, I'd say it's not just you.

|
|

It's not only about you clicking multiple times. Even if you post a solution only one, you get four times 10 points.
I observe that since about a week (or less).

I was just able to vote my own Article (Basic Login functionalities for ASP.Net 4.0)[^] and even got Rep points for it and the vote count was updated. I don't know if this is a known bug but IMO the author of an article shouldn't be able to vote for his own article....
Should be a job for a spare hamster if there is one.

It is known and it has been allowed since I can recall. But only once. If you vote more, maybe the event log reflects the entry, but your rep should not be affected.

If something has a solution... Why do we have to worry about?. If it has no solution... For what reason do we have to worry about?
Help me to understand what I'm saying, and I'll explain it better to you
Rating helpfull answers is nice, but saying thanks can be even nicer.

Thanks for your response. I thought that this might is a L. Nielsen bug but I haven't recognized that I was able to vote any of my articles before...

We decided to bypass the whole "let's make a sock puppet so I can vote for my own article" thing and just let people ego-vote. Over time things average out anyway
