As it is past 3:40 AM already, the question is moot. The real question now is: I have a bunch of daily full backups and hourly incremental backups, I ran out of tapes and space to store them, and worst of all my database refuses to crash, what should I do now?

It should not increase views when user read self posted question

Why not?

We can not get actual number of other viewers who read the question by meant of answering.

Your meager number of views on your own question will certainly not eclipse the number of views by the other users on the site. Besides, you don't have to go back to your question until an answer or comment is provided because you get notified of both events.

I would like to be able to send private messages to article authors when I have something to say about the article that's not entirely positive.
This "feature" will allow the author to either respond to my message, privately, explaining why I'm perhaps mistaken, or perhaps improve the article.
When the first publicly visible comment on an article is something less than enthusiastic, it sometimes discourages others from upvoting the article.

That would be a great feature until it gets abused. Members will send private messages asking for help instead of posting on the forums whether others can answer, or where any abusive behaviour can be easily seen by all and dealt with.
If you have something to say that's not entirely positive then it's not hard to post a public message outlining, professionally and cordially, your concerns. Any debate will be immensely valuable to other members who may be thinking exactly the same thing.

I just gained about 1000 points in the span of a minute or two with nothing indicating why in my points history. I'm not complaining, but if it's gonna be discovered as a bug later on, the sooner the better so the let-down isn't so dramatic.

Some events (eg message deletions) causing a resync which can do this. We recently fixed an error in the rep system that meant certain rep events weren't getting removed when an item was deleted, so there are cases were points are out of sync.
I'm tempted to do a full sync, but I might wait until you're on the threshold of a much bigger number. You know - for maximum effect.

According to Reputationator, I should catch Christian on April 12th. That would be a good time.
It struck me that maybe a nemisis user account (or two) had been removed, and I regained all the points from the now deleted 1-votes.

When will SAKryukov catch up with Christian?
Maybe this could be a new feature of Reputationator - our estimated Christian date?

The actual feature in Reputationator tells you when you'll catch the current points leader, who happens to be Christian at the moment. It only performs that determination for the user represented by the data in the charts because it uses the current average total points per day to determine the catch-up date.
My current catch-up date is 02 April.

What will you do when you finally become top dog on the leader board?
Just along for the ride.

He'll obsess even further on his points just in case Nish has the temerity to pass him.

He moved past me into 2nd in November because I was dealing with the combination of moving to a new house and finishing up CamoPicker 1.0 in October. You can see the effect it had on my points if you look at my reputation graph - it had essentially flatlined for a few weeks. I reacquired 2nd place yesterday.
I don't have to obsess anymore - Reputationator does it for me now.

I'll go to DisneyLand. Then, I'll buy a sports car that suitably indicates the size of my penis...

I am now forced to refer you to my contribution in the lounge thread regarding Dave's Jaguar...

... but you forgetting to thank your favorite sky pixie as well. You can't go to disneyland without doing that first, can you?
I wasn't, now I am, then I won't be anymore.

The last sky pixie I saw, I shot at. Hasn't been back since, so I figure I got my point across.

Hello Chris,
On Quick Answers section, I was providing a solution to a user I have noticed that when the page is refreshed or reloaded, there is a "Vote: button appears while loading the page and when the page is loaded, it disappears. Are you using it when someone chooses a rating you fire the click event of this vote button? I am just asking because of my curiousity. Thanks.
|
|
|
|
|
The easiest way to see its purpose is to view the page with and without javascript enabled. When javascript isn't enabled you see checkboxes and a vote button. When javascript is enabled you see the "star" rating control and no vote button - votes occur as soon as you click a star.
