I don't see anywhere to thank About Scemis (sp) for the help with my 401 error on anonymous authentication. He was the only correct help I got including the Microsoft IIs forum. I tried a number of programming websites with no results. Thanks so much.

If it was an article, there should be a board below that article. If you write there, the author will get a notification about it. This way, he will know it was useful for you.

I figure you are talking about this:
401 - Unauthorized: Access is denied due to invalid credentials[^]
1. You can upvote the solution if you like it (hover over the starts on the right side)
2. It is actually a very fishy solution...
Skipper: We'll fix it.
Alex: Fix it? How you gonna fix this?
Skipper: Grit, spit and a whole lotta duct tape.

Yes. I got the info I needed to fix the 401. I tried the IIS forum on Msoft and got no help. It was this simple. I needed to change the authentication from specific user iusr to application pool. I don't know why that was not the default. That Never came up in any previous server version.

I recently clicked on a link from a email notification for a VB.Net question and when the page showed up there appeared to be no other answers on the page. I posted an answer and a few days later found it had been down voted. What I didn't realize upon the second visit was the other answers were dated before mine.
I finally found out the down vote was because the answer was previously mentioned and not accepted by the person that asked the question.
I'm not sure if it was because of the email link or because I'm a beta tester that no other answers or comments showed up.

I was about to report this message as Design issue..!!!!
Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the Universe is winning

That's an odd one. I'll try to get to it today (busy day today). In the meantime just avert your eyes.

Turns out it was the cache not being updated due to a network issue when the message was moderated.
All good now, Wise Monkey.

A mortarboard hat icon of sorts.
So, you have a rant icon which denotes anger or emotional aggression of sorts. But, we do not have an icon for a post type (usually lengthy) where a member is professing something on an intelligent level (maybe not....probably not...perhaps), or they are just giving us useful information, etc.
I don't expect this suggestion to be acted on, but I had to make it none the less.
My inspiration: The Lounge[^] and here The Lounge[^]

Should also be a feature to automatically assign that icon to anything I post.
