C++ and MFC are tricky, you should not try to learn them without some sort of reference book, and without learning how to use google. Update data moves data in to variables from form elements and vice versa.

Solution 2

UpdateData invokes the overridden DoDataExchange method in your dialog class. This is the function in which the various DDX_xxx functions are called to exchange and validate data in the various controls on the dialog.
