hosting website on iis server

i have made a website and want to live it , making my system as server. how to do
i have configured iis and able to acess the webite through my system ip when connected to internet but if that url is hit by some other system on internet it says oops cant open the page . what can be the possible fault please help.

Solution 2

I am assuming that you are trying to access your website using your IP address. If you want to make your system as server then you need to have a static IP for your system. make sure you have static IP for that.

Let me know if my understanding is incorrect and we will discuss more on this issue and try to resolve the problem.

ya you are right i am using my own ip as i think , till the time i am connected to internet without dropping the connection i am having public ip which is unique and same ip for that period .
so should i not be able to acess website for atleast that period from other system

Actually NO. your ISP must be assigning the IP using DHCP and also your IP will only be unique among some set of computers under the same ISP. so from the internet's perspective your IP is not unique and mainly it is not unreachable.

If you really need to host something on your computer you will have to ask for a public static IP which will be unique and reachable from internet.

thats fine you mean to say that my ip is not unique over the internet?? , also wanted to tell i was able to ping the ip from other system sucessfully .
