do the project in the language in which you are good than other. Though I am working in dot net for last 4 years, I will prefer java for training period.

1) Deciding the technology - It's your take. Choose the technology you know best.
2) Deciding the project - The best way would be to go and talk to your teachers. You can ask them about what projects you can choose and how to go about it. Once that is decided, search web about more details on the project and then go for it. :thumbsup:

in my opinion I think C is the best way to start in programming...
If selecting in three I prefer java...
You can do lot of things in java (web, desktop, etc)
