We connect only when actual database is needed. We can create a replica of the original database (with relations) in our DataSet. Though there is also an option to use DataReader which works similar to ADO. So call : Connection.Open() Command.ExecuteNonQuery() // Anything here Connection.Close() As all of them are Disposable, you can use Using Block.
