I set the countdown timer of javascript. my problem is that when i refresh the page or it's postback by any control, my timer is reinitialize again. plz reply me if there is any solu. asap.

You have to store the value before postback. You can store it in View State.

Store the timer value in a hidden variable in the onbeforeUnload event of body element using javascript. This event will be fired before a postback.
Write some code to start the timer from the hidden field value in the onload event of body. This event will be fire after postback.

hi all,
I am devloping a web application using vb.net 2.0 and following are my detail requirement.
1. I have data in a dataset and want to export it into excel then save this excel file in a hard coded path, which is pass through codebehind.
2. Actually when I we save general save in a server but I want to save it within client machine's local drive without any user interaction.
3. This requirement is lkie multiple file downloading in a client machine without any user interaction during download
4. if i will give "c:\temp\" then this should point local drive of a client machine.
So please help if anybody has any solution.

1 - easy to do. you can just write a CSV, and Excel will open it, or use Office interop
2 - This is absolutely impossible. To even ask, ,means you have no idea how ASP.NET works.
3 - Again, impossible. Buy a basic ASP.NET book and read it, or just think about security if a website could write all over any hard drive of any user without asking.
4 - you gave four points, but three of them are the same impossible request.

normally when iam assigning data to the grid it is disaplaying but when iam
kept the grid in the webpart of the zone template the grid is not displaying how to solve this problem

Hello,
I am developing a Intranet application, in which, i have a domain server like ITES.COM, approx 100 systems connected to this server. i have entered login details & path of Domain by using DIRECTORYENTRY. then i have got all local computer name. when user click on any computer name then display hardware configuration according to computer name.
i used WMI for fetch Hardware Configuration, but its through exception "Access Denied". when i paas login details of individual machine.. then its work perfectly.
So, how i authenticate Domain Login Details on local machine for get hardware Configuration.

i want show the folders and files of drives in the gridview.i use this code:
drives = DriveInfo.GetDrives();
string[] files = Directory.GetFiles(drives[2].Name.ToString());
string[] dirs = Directory.GetDirectories(drives[2].Name.ToString());
but i seesome folders that i dont see in my drive , can anybody help me?

It will return you all the file and folder name that are available on that drive. And if you want to display the files under each folder, you have to iterate through each folder.
Let me know if you have any problem.

thats right but thats code give me some folders that some of them are not available e.x. System Volumn Information folder or MSOCache, i want see the folders that are available
or how can i get the hiden folders?

They are system and Hidden Folder.

Why would you want to search the server for files ? Why would you tell the client about the file format of the server ? You should find that you can't see above the root of your web app, that's just ASP.NET security protecting your server.

In my project i have to create categories and sub-categories and depending on that categoreis, specifications will be defined at run time and whenever we enter the product details, those entered field should be there to enter their respective details in product details.

As you mention in previous post
there can be n number specification headings like for camera it can be:- lens, display,type etc.
then ask following things from admin user to create specification table.
(1)Column name
(2)Column Type
(3)Column size
Extra information according to your project requirement
Create a Store Procedure in your database and pass these specifications as parameter to this procedure and inside procedure create table

i m deploying my website as precompiled web application
now if i want to change any of aspx page then i hav to
again deploy the whole website is there no other way to
deploy my website so that if i change my single aspx page
then i can give only that web page not the whole web site

if u r deploying precompiled application than u hav some limitation as u r facing. in this way u can only replace the compiled dlls in bin folder no need to deploy all the pages and images again..but remember if u adding new page than the html page generated after compilation should be uploaded. and one more thing u must follow, that before uploading new dlls all the old dlls in bin folder should be deleted first.
