The truth is that you guys are right....
The basic idea should be to connect to a web service that shoves either pictures\animated gifs or flash clips to play at certain intervals and the application presents the data...

Pictures and animated gifs should be no problem... what about more complicated banners (flash clips) - how are those "normally" played in c# .net applications.

I think your asking a question.

Handle the keypress event, check the incoming character, and cancel the event if does not meet the requirements by setting Handled = true

Hello
I want to download one folder containing files from remote server to local computer. i am using vb.net. how should i do it? i have two possible ideas
1. Make zip file, down load to local machine and unzip
2. download files one by one using binary stream.
which one is perfect. if there is any other way?

System.Net provides you support for this.
Basically, you have to create an instance of WebClient, and call DownloadFile() method, or OpenRead() to get a stream:

Dim client As WebClient = new WebClient()
client.DownloadFile(URL, "c:\test.zip")

i have already written code both for making zip file and download the file from server. i tried to make zip file on server based on my code but couldnt succeed. i think it is because of permision problems on server. it making zip file on local machine easily. any help to make zip file on server.

Hi,

i have an application with my own Login-System.
When a user starts the app and loggs correct in,i want to store user-data in a class "Logininformation".
i have to access the Logininformation class in many other forms.

How could this be done ?
I know that global Vars are not allowed in C#, but how can i get this problem done ?

There are many ways to do it. You could persist the information, such in a database. You could also pass the information between forms (least favorable), or have a singleton object that is shared between the forms.

You can simply define the class as static. For example:

internal static class Logininformation {
   private static string username;
   ...
   internal static string UserName {
      get {
         return username;
      }
      set {
         username = value;
      }
   }
   ...

I am in the middle of building an application in Visual studio 2005. For some reason I spend all my time going back to each form and having to resize and reformat. I dont know why. I have all forms Locked and controls Locked, but it does not matter it has a mind of its own. Is there a solution that I can do to fix this issue. I am a beginner but a little farther along.

Set the attributes of the *.Designer.cs file to "readonly" once you're done with a form. Do you have any plugins installed in VS2005?

Are you using native forms (System.Windows.Forms.Form) or custom inherited forms. I'm asking this because in many situations the derived form (or control) sets for example size or position in constructor and this would lead to the behaviour you described.

I have been exerimenting and searching for answers. I believe I may have fixed the issue. I have created one main form and I show all child forms in a panel of the main form. My font default for each form was different. When I changed the font of each form the sizes changed for the whole form. What caught my attention was a previous question in another forum was sub forms inheriting the parent forms formatting. So what I did is went through all the forms and panels changing the font to match the parent form. I only hope that this is the fix. So far so good. Thanks for all your suggestions!

Hello,

I'd like to change Windows system fonts dynamically and programmatically.
Like we do by right-clicking on the desktop, selecting "properties"->"Appearance" tab->listbox "Font size".
I found some information about the API SetupChangeFontSize, but it requires restarting the computer (and sometimes asks for the install CD), which isn't what I'm looking for.

I tried also to modify some registry keys/values under HKCU\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics, HKCU\Control Panel\Appearance.
Then sending a modification message to all the windows with SendMessageTimeout.
Without success.

Any idea?

Of course it does this. Those changes usually won't take effect until the system restarts.

You simply have no choice. A restart will be required to do this.

Crystal Report content is wrong in Crystal Report Viewer, but right if exporting to pdf file directly.

We have a crystal report contains additional functions to get same text.
It works well if we exporting report to PDF file directly,
but display empty value if we preview report in Crystal Report Viewer.

We declare a global variable in one sub report,
it is a handle of an array, then we get same text from this global variable in other sub report.

any suggestion for this case?

Is this possible??

I've tried all manner of possibilites including (but not limited to):
- "File:///C:/MyApp.exe" args1 args2
- "File:///C:/MyApp.exe args1 args2"
- "File:///C:/MyApp.exe%20args1%20args2"
- %22File:///C:/MyApp.exe%22%20args1%20args2

also tried with forward slash and backslash.

Any help is appreciated,

Isn't it done using siwtches? /p etc

or using the -
myapp.exe -arg1 -arg2

?

Those look vaguely familiar?

Use Ctrl+Left/Right to switch messages, Ctrl+Up/Down to switch threads, Ctrl+Shift+Left/Right to switch pages.
