Let me explain...
1. The person does not have a phone. NO PHONE! Got it?
2. They connect the phone (that they do not have) to a Windows 7 desktop computer for no apparent reason.
3. They never give their phone number (that they do not have) to anyone.
4. It hurt but they bought $500 worth of tools from Home Depot.
5. The $500 was a special internet only deal so they badgered the store manger for an hour until the manager caved.
6. They want to know why "this" is safer but don't define "this".
7. They link to an unrelated story about "passwordless" logins for our dogs.
8. They ask how many of us will give in to abandoning our phones, badgering store managers and buying overpriced tools.
9. They apologize for being old and crabby.
See? Clear as mud!!

Wow! You should go into Translation Services. Seriously, freaking amazing! and made me laugh.
Maybe you should do some Comedy routine where you have a Person who stands on stage blathering and you stand to the side & translate. Now that I'd pay to watch for 1 or 2 hours.
Seriously, made me laugh.

Really did not badger the Store Manager
They just did not know how to deal with a customer who did not have a phone or the internet.
Hence now way to send me promotional e-mails
I do appreciate your humor
Not sure about the passwordless logins for our dogs ? ? ?

OK My Bad skip the story about Home Depot
If you follow the link I understand it to implies I need to link my phone to my desktop computer to log on to the desktop computer.
So what happens if I have NO Phone?
And why do I want to give my phone number to Microsoft Google or Apple?

No.

OK, yeah, no, don't do that.
I don't even use a "Microsoft ID" or whatever on my PC.

Tail is wagging dog all over the world now.
Everything is marketing so the best ideas don't rule, the best _marketed_ ideas rule.
2FA sucks, right!
We use Duo[^] at work for 2FA.
Now I hear that Github is going to require 2FA.
If they think I'm going to type in a 6-digit code every time I push code they are crazy!!!
So, maybe GitHub will use Duo.
But think about that. Duo will become the Centralized Password Authority I guess.
The Internet Decentralized. Then, all the companies bought up their share & re-Centralized it. I mean I guess I should laugh?

Yes GitHub is requesting 2FA when I log in
I have no phone number on file so they send me an email 6 digit code
that I can use to complete log in
Thanks for the Duo link

Not trying to play one better with you but last April 2021 J P Moran Wealth Management started sending me
emails first I clicked unsubscribe 3 times one a month then I called and requested to please stop
so they continued Next I contacted the executive office and they said they would fix it Then they sent me
a letter that said it takes 90 days to delete my email address After 90 days it continued
So I contacted the BBB and filed a complaint It stopped for 3 month and as of last month one more email
This time I went to the local Branch Manager and explained to her that this was going to end badly
When I explained to her I was a Tunnel Rat in Vietnam and what that was
And that my PTSD was starting due to the emails
So far the FBI has not knocked on the door
Still waiting for the next months email

I looked through the forums but didn't see anything Kubernetes specific, that's why I asked in the Lounge if there was one. I have submitted my question via the red link above.
