So, I should strike you from my Christmas card list, I guess???

Maybe you just needed to use the Rant icon on a Monday morning........and failed.
However, you are correct in your observation.

Tom wrote: "Game is keen, confused, after broken snare (9)"
keen = dirge
keen confused = ridge
snare = trap
broken snare = part
keen confused after broken snare = partridge
partridge = game[^]
If I have the answer wrong I am gonna look seriously stupid!

Not wrong.
And I didn't think of that synonym for keen!

I did have the advantage of a thesaurus when looking for a relatively obscure synonym for dirge

Better maybe?
Perhaps a recent theatrical release is doing good enough for first gift (9)

There aren't that many synonyms for guile that are small, so start with those ...
Electoral System (or voting system)
I am most familiar with MMP (Mixed Member Proportional) coming from NZ and all,
but others could be
STV (Single Transferable Vote) .. maybe SV
FPP (First Past the Post) .. maybe FP
I even considered ES (Electoral System)
eventually I settled on PR (Proportional Representation) as it fitted with the guile synonym I reckoned was best (art)
the hardest bit (sorry I had to look it up Dave) was 'that' Latin is not something I ever studied!

|
|
|
|
I have work tomorrow and the time difference at this time of year is not in my favour ... so before I go to bed
Guile = art
electoral system = pr (Proportional Representation)
Guile in electoral system = partr
that roman = id ('that' in latin)
girl = g
note = e

I've always thought there was something paradoxical about this award. They've proved it this year.

I find it funny really. To succeed in sport, you need to either feed of the crowd or, a la Murray, shut it all out. The ones who shut out do come across as boring because frankly they are. One mission in life and that is to succeed in their chosen sport. There are code monkeys, accountants, bin men and doctors all with the same 'skill'.
Me, away from the labours, I lkie to kick back, crack a jar or two and tell it how I see it. Oft with frickin' lasers, on-a-shark, if I can crowbar them into the tale.
