Braindead (or Dead, Alive in some places) is a great horror comedy. And his two earlier movies (meet the Feebles and Bad Taste) were similarly great if you like the genre

Little Shop of Horrors
Ultra low budget, greatest comedy scene ever - the Dentist - Steve Martin & Bill Murray.
Also Sigourney Weaver & Dan Ackroyd !!
Several versions and endings - all great.

Black Dynamite. A hilarious movie that deserved much more love than it got.

The Grand Budapest Hotel. Strange and humourous.

The Man Who Knew Too Little (1997) with Bill Murray. Laughed through the entire thing, but most people I mention it to have never even heard of it. It had a $20M budget and only made $13.7M, and it has a 41% on Rotten Tomatoes, but I love it.

I've always liked "Being There". A comedy illustrating people's willingness to believe what they want.

Harold and Maude, Bud Cort and Ruth Gordon. Didn't make a profit until 12 years after it was released.

There is an obscure semi-horror flick called "In the Mouth of Madness"
...and one can never forget "Better Off Dead"
+1 Tremors

The Bothersome Man
I loved this film. So bizarre. So good.
Also, Monsters (2010). 500K budget, incredible use of CGI (as in: very, very subtle and well blended) and it was about the story, not the effects.
cheers

Have you seen "Wristcutters"? It's a sort of love story passing through hell that looks just like a more run-down version of earth - also bizarre.

Not as bad as people made out. Would have been way better without the ex-Mrs Pitt.

Here's a few films I stumbled upon at various times which I enjoyed. I don't think any of them could be called hits (though some became cult classics):
- Red Rock West
- Office Space
- True Romance
- Leaving Las Vegas
- Reservoir Dogs
- Charley Varrick

And let us not forget The Stuff (1985)
Got to love the TV commercials in the movie. Anyone remember the "Where's the beef" lady?

The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension. Hands down #1.
Cast: Peter Weller, John Lithgow, Jeff Goldblum, Ellen Barkin, Christopher Lloyd, Robert Ito.
John Lithgow is magnificent. Peter Weller and Jeff Goldblum are also wonderful. Ellen Barkin is go good and so very young and hot It brought tears to my eyes.
#2 Earth Girls Are Easy. Stars:Geena Davis, Jeff Goldblum, Jim Carrey.
3 Repo Man. Stars: Harry Dean Stanton, Emilio Estevez, Tracey Walter
4 The Commitments. Stars: Robert Arkins, Michael Aherne, Angeline Ball.
If you were ever in a rock band or thought about joining one, this film is a MUST See.
