Perhaps you should prepare one for tomorrow just in case Tom doesn't re-appear before then?

Well done!
We are going to have visitors tonight so I will try and prepare one ahead of time.

Hi All,
The powers that be have upgraded our Dev PC's to Lenovo Think Centre's. Fine, OK, why?, we used use Dell's while they are blockey and chugged if you doing heavy graphics processing so not perfect but OK.
So along with 'company'policy we now have Lenovo's, the reliability of these machines is awful. They develop motherboard faults if you look at them! What is the general feeling, have we got a bad batch or have others seen similar faults with them?

Similar situation for me. Been using the Think Centre for about a year now. No motherboard issues but they're not the most performant machines I've used.

I am not a big fan of LTCs either. Used one for 3+ years, I think. Not bad for everyday use, and did not have any issues there, but had performance issues when running multi-processes, involving large amounts of disk writes, etc.
That was a while ago though, to be fair, and perhaps they have gotten better? I don't know.

When the party chairman has your laptop "examined", it will be properly "reeducated". No intervention on your part is necessary . . . or possible. That's the problem with hacked chips - hard to find the bugs. Fortuantely, QC for Chinese products is efficiently done by the consumers!
Sheh-sheh!

My real computer at home: Desktop.
My PC at work - Dell Precision Xeon.
My living room media box - refurbished Desktop
My good laptop: Dell M6500 (17" mon; real feel keyboard "portable desktop"
Only the toys are toys (Raspberry, Intel NUC*, Toshiba something media extra-wide screen)
The NUC may count as a desktop as it has a TV for monitor, mouse, keyboard.
The Toshiba junk, is an i5 but too small for anything useful. Designed for media. It's all I had after Sandy (a donation of some sort) - and is my "dirty" machine.
Cellphone is not a computer - and folds neatly before dropping into a pocket.

When they finally have quantum computers working, and AI running at full scale, if it confirms that the meaning of life really is 42, do we all get to go home?

There is an answer, but I'll have to think about it.

Go home? You’ll be working nine hours a day six days a week. And you’ll be paid for all 42 of those hours!

Read all of them, just failed to make the connection. Getting old sucks - don't do it, if you can avoid it.

Cool, in the future, working hours are dramatically reduced and I get paid for more than 40? A shining future indeed

Where is home? What is home, really? Nothing more than a figment of your imagination.
Quantum computers are working, have been working for thousands of years.
