I think they do that just fine.
Our data is VERY sensitive (people's medical data) and pretty much everything is shut tight, even working from home is a temporary IP exception in the firewall (no idea why they don't just use VPN...).
Most of our systems aren't accessible at all from outside the company and most of our employees don't have accounts for the systems that are.
They even disabled our USB ports.
If they're so paranoia about everything I'd be very surprised if they didn't close accounts of ex-employees on time
I'll give them this though, it's better to be overly careful, even to the point where it makes no sense, than it is to be just a little too careless
It's just that their carefulness is sometimes interfering with my ability to do my job properly and that's where I, very personally, draw the line

I had this the other day moving laptops and chrome did have an option make an xml thing and re import your bookmarks. Keeping the import file as back up might help

Yeah, it's what I was planning.
Just tried it and the XML I got starts with this:

I wonder what happens when one passengers "emotional support animal" set its mind on eating another persons "support animal"...

Well it's the first time I've seen that, WTF is wrong with these people.
Do they pay for the extra seat or are the airlines forced to allow it for free?
Reduce stress and lower blood pressure - vallium would make more sense and a lot less mess.
What about people that need medical marijuana? At least that doesn't sh*t on the seat. Double standards.

Which books would you recommend to someone who is novice to programming and have interest to dive in to the world of software development. I am specifically asking for .NET Technologies.

I like the Terry Pratchett "Disc World" books better. Harry Potter series is good but comes in fourth behind any of the Douglas Adams books (2nd), or William Gibson books (3).
"Newer" is not automatically better, just different.

Any of the Addison Wesley / Wrox / Microsoft Press C# books - they start simply, and build up to the complex stuff.

This is not an answer, it is just a reflection...
Is it this person that wants .NET or is it your idea? Personally I would recommend building programming knowledge on a solid foundation from the ground up. With a language that does not need specific frameworks and IDEs. I have seen even experienced Java coders with very vague understand of what a stack is, makes me a tad sad. But maybe that is just me.

He's a novice. I don't think he should START OUT with reflection. Surely, that can come later...
