Um...it's owned by Disney now - which should answer your question.

I am a twitter with anticipation. I really am.
But...
You know it's going to have totally over-produced CGI that will distract you from the characters themselves.
Star Wars wasn't about the effects (though they were AWESOME at the time). It was about young Luke Skywalker. Let's hope the next three have an actual story. I don't even care if you can drive a truck through it. I will suspend disbelief and logic. But only to a point.
cheers

I hope not. Saw the trailer for Jurassic World and they totally went that route in some scenes. Makes it look worse when overdone.

There are hints and rumors that there will be less CGI than the previous trilogy has.
hints[^]:
"I think people are coming back around to [practical effects]. It feels like there is sort of that gravity pulling us back toward it. I think that more and more people are hitting kind of a critical mass in terms of the CG-driven action scene lending itself to a very specific type of action scene, where physics go out the window and it becomes so big so quick."
Lets hope.

Since it's disney, now, the good guys won't need light sabres or guns, any more.
They can just chase heavily armed soldiers around brandishing towels.
Looking forward to it not, I am.

My heater broke the other day. Of course. Winter coming. Heaters don't break in the Summer.
Anyway, the guy came and fixed it.
Anyone know anything about heat pumps? That's what I have here.
Used to be, it would kick on all at once - fan, indoor unit, outdoor unit - and run until the house met the magic temperature.
Now, however, when the kicking-on point is reached, the outside unit starts up, then the inside unit and they both run for at least 5 minutes until the fan kicks on and starts blowing the warmed air through the ductwork.
Which is "normal"? The used-to-be way of it working, or the current way?
The current way actually makes more sense...don't start blowing until it can blow warm air...but it never ever worked that way before (7 years worth of never ever, anyway, since that's when we moved in).

The way it used to be matches how mine operate (Nordic Inverter) but in extreme cold weather the outdoor unit is supposed to pre-start...I have never experienced this because we do not have what the Nordic countries would call extreme weather.

Last winter we had 2 full weeks around -20 F, that is not so fun, I tell you. I had to load my car battery 2 times.

The current way makes sense, and is far more efficient. The old way was starting all subsystems at once, and that tends to create electrical problems related to switching transients - that leads to equipment failures. I don't know the details of how a heat pump works, but it definitely makes no sense to blow air into the heated space until the bits meant to heat the air get warm. That's just silly.
I haven't yet lit my forced air furnace (though I should - it's rather chilly inside tonight, at 61 F), but its normal sequence is to light the burner, wait until some bi-metal sensor gets hot enough to switch when the firebox is toasty, then turn on the air circulating fan. It runs until the sensed temperature is a couple of degrees above the set-point, then turns off the burner. The fan continues to run until the firebox cools down to a safe temperature. On occasion, the pilot flame will heat the firebox to unsafe levels. When that happens, the control turns on the air circulating fan to cool the assembly. It's actually rather clever, considering that it has no electronic parts, just a couple of relays, and a few resistors in the control loop.

Yeah, that makes sense to me, too. Weird how every repairman for the last 7 years didn't notice... (Yeah, I call them out at least once a year)

A day late, but I wasn't internet enabled yesterday.
First, I am thankful for my family, my job, and the opportunities that affords.
Wednesday night, my family joined a group of about 15 other people to travel 5 hours away with the express purpose of bringing a full Thanksgiving dinner to people who have been hard fit economically.
At the end of the day, 610 meals had been provided, leftovers sent to the homeless shelter and many bags of clothes donated to whomever could use them.
What made the day special for my family is this: 11 years ago, my first date with my to-be wife was doing the same thing in Harlem.
Do something for someone today expecting nothing in return. It can make you grateful for what you have.
