I just managed to get all my data from the damaged HDD[^]. The second VM was not really of help, so I downloaded the current Ubuntu LTS release, started it on the damaged VM (tryout mode, of course) and was able to mount the damaged HDD and soak my data out of it

Replace "prepositional phrase" with "preposition", and it sounds more like Latin.
