It's a rite of passage: from Junior School to The Big School. You can expect to feel a little apprehensive. Don't worry though, after a couple of weeks you will wonder why you worried, and how you ever coped with such a poor excuse for a language...
(It's a joke: VB isn't that bad, it just shows its age and its "non-programmer" origins. And it has ON ERROR RESUME NEXT which should have it put down...)

Fortunately I never worked with VB enough to become infected with any VBTD's.

Me too. I was a prostitute once because I needed to feed my family, but I never felt clean after that.

It doesn't feel like it, but I joined this little site 5 years ago today - I can't remember why, it may have been to download, or maybe to post: it was too long ago!
My word this place has changed!
It's bigger, brighter, but Luc was a regular, Elaine also back in those days. More stupid questions, more stupid answers...
So, how's it been for you?

I joined the site on April 26th, almost two years ago. It was to download some associated Zip-File and I continued to use the account for downloads only for the continuing few months after. I have previously downloaded Zip files from here, but I must admit that I always used a trash email
At some day in October '12 I decided to post my experience on Communication with an Arduino ATMega 2560 as an article. Of course I did a Rookie mistake - It was way too short. I can still remember the first three people I met: You, Mike Hankey and Dave Auld. I later then stumbled over the Lounge and became a more or less active poster. I submitted various articles, and deleted some of them because I felt like there are better examples for the given problem out there. I came up with 12 Tips until today, and wrote 4 articles, from the Arduino stuff over doubly linked lists and WPF Canvas drawing to the Git Guide to Workspaces (Which is the most successful one until today, and currently in competition to get a price as the "Best everything else Article" of March).
I still feel honored by the great Feedback I receive for some of my Articles, and frightened by human stupidity which is showing up at times. CodeProject is a great place, where Chris and the Staff give us an incomparable chance to present our ideas and solutions for sometimes tricky problems to a broad public audience.
The reason I'm still here? I like the Article system, and I'm currently working on my biggest Article yet. In addition, I feel like I can give back some of the help I received here during my early days in the industry.
Apart from that, I'd like to thank You, Mike and Dave for the warm welcome you gave me back then.
And for the sake of being a creepy mo'fo': I love you <3 and I guess everyone here is happy that you stay with us.
I will never again mention that Dalek Dave was the poster of the One Millionth Lounge Post, nor that it was complete drivel.

You have less debator points - Maybe you should post more Soapbox jokes?

According to the profile page, I joined 11 years, 4 months ago and I joined because I had decided I needed to learn this ".NET" thing I kept hearing about.
Unfortunately I joined a company that frowned on communism sharing so I had to dial back my contributions for the last 7 years or so...but I am back in the free world again so be prepared for more of my questionable output.

I joined 4 1/2 years ago.
I initially joined to download code from an article.
But have been attempting give back to the community as much as possible by answering questions and posting tips.
I personally want to get to the point where I can confidently post an article but I have a few more tips to post before I can do such a move.
