At least it sounds as if you have one of the rare development jobs which is actually interesting.

Meh, it's producing firmware for motors... with only a single application (maybe two). It's mostly engineering the system as to lower reaction times, improve thermal and power efficiency, reduce noise and EM emissions...
Not the most interesting job I held but its perks are elsewhere (i.e. twice the pay and a third of commute distance).

And that's the reason I don't have a job like yours.
My programming jobs have been all in the music industry, or now, banking. I use descrete maths and the occasional easy algebra.
Like golf, Calculus in all its forms are great spectator sport, but I've little interest in actually playing the game.
If you think 'goto' is evil, try writing an Assembly program without JMP.

I was once asked to do a chi-square analysis. I still don't know how to do that. Not part of statistics for physics So, I just computed averages, which were good enough to get the job done.

Riiiight, I didn't use any math in all the DSP code I wrote for embedded audio devices. Or for the IEEEish floating point package I wrote for an industrial controller language (looong time ago!). Yep, didn't need math for any of it.
About the only opinions from non-programmers I pay attention too are in regards to how an application looks and interacts with the user.

I have long said that, while I took 32 hours of college math (calculus, differential equations, and matrix algebra), I've since recycled that part of my brain to store old movie dialogue.
Much more useful.

He said "yes, all the others were nines and tens."

When we were in university, my ex and I worked at the same pizza place. Cops sometimes came in. One of them, a Constable Morton, was young and fairly new on the job.
Ex: Is bestiality still against the law?
Morton: It should be! You should see some of the dogs I've gone out with!

OK, so this morning MS decides to let me update to Win 11.
So it let it, and it all goes smoothly.
A new glitch pops up with the new taskbar: you can't drag it to the side or to a different monitor in a multiple setup. Apparently the only way to move it is to change which monitor is the "main" one which means that boot problems will come up rotated 90o on my landscape monitor, and all games will play on the wrong one. No, thank you ... Another MS decision that degrades usability.
I'll learn to live with it even though I keep trying to check the time in the wrong place.
So I'll create a Win 11 installation USB and off we go.
Nope, it decides "this PC cannot run Win 11" even though it's just upgraded to it ...

Nope, I'm going to leave it a week or two and try again. It upgraded to Win 11 when MS prompted me to, so I'm guessing it's that the media tool hasn't been updated yet ...

Well,
You also don't need to reinstall Windows to set the main monitor. Or you can think outside your box and simply swap the cables.

Nope, I want a clean install - I suspect this installation still has Win XP code in there somewhere, it's been upgraded that often ...
And changing the main monitor affects loads of things - notably games which I don't want to play on a tall, thin landscape monitor.
In Win 10, you could "Unlock" the taskbar, drag it to the side, or a different monitor and then lock it there. It just worked. This new one isn't centered properly, so I have to have it over to the left or it'll be like staring at the mirror that isn't level and my eye will start to twitch again!

Good gawd, man. How old is your PC, and how did you get it to run Windows 10?

I *think* the mouse is original Logitech Trackman Wheel, but it's possible that was replaced ...
It's a bit like the old saying: "best axe I ever owned: only 7 hew handles and 5 new heads since I bought it!"
Slowly but surely, over the years, it's had a new case here, a new PSU there, here a motherboard, there an SSD, "oh, the CRT monitor died - I'll get an LCD" over there.
If I'd saved all the bits, I'd have a bigger pile of dead or redundant computer parts than I do now ...
