You talked me into it - I'll buy the sub today!

Some people somehow are not happy about the Cayo heist, because it pays so much more than everything else, it changes the game's "balance" (for lack of a better term).
You can skip the missile launcher for the sub, and the underwater vehicle (I forget what it's called) as they're really not necessary and mostly a waste of money. The small chopper (Sparrow) is worth it IMO if only because it tends to spawn a lot closer to you than any other plane/helicopter you might request. But again, strictly speaking, if you're short on cash, you don't have to get it at the same time as the sub.

I've bought the sub ... now I need to find the time to do the heist setups ...

Fortunately there's far fewer setup missions than the other heists (like Casino) and they can be done a lot quicker. Some are optional. And you only need to do one of the vehicle prep missions to get there (sub, or plane, or boat, etc)
I know some people who have done the heist 3 times in a single day.

Steven Wilson - 12 THINGS I FORGOT[^]
Last week, @kmoorevs took over the SOTW in my absence... And he did a pretty good job!
In fact, his SOTW then is my SOTW now
I don't really like Steven Wilson although the guy is a living legend.
His work with Porcupine Tree is pretty heavy, but his solo career is more like pop music.
However, this song really stuck and has been playing over an over.
Reminded me a bit of Sixpence None the Richer and Sophie Ellix-Bextor.
Also, posting a bit early today as I'll be busy later and not posting isn't an option as a lot of you will apparently stress out (missing your queue for the weekend)

Yay! It's friiiiiiday!

Maybe I'll post on Thursday next week, just to mess with your brain
Fun fact, the SOTW used to be on Thursdays a couple of years back, it only changed when Friday became my day off.
Friday is just another work day, just like the other nine days of the week, since I've started my own company, JUUN Software, though

I am kind of vaguely looking for a new job, I stress vaguely, made only 2 applications in the last 2 months...
But, but, but.... got an email for an interesting looking job Wednesday from an HR company.... though it's in goddamn Melbourne!
But work remotely is available and pays well.... got a call from the HR today.. the job is with f***ing EA Games! The publisher! To work with the FrostByte team (the team that create their top of the line gaming engine)!
Additionally, video game / 3D animation is the last one kind of app I never worked on but always thought it would be cool!
Already did a lot of desktop app dev (WinForm, WPF, UWP), Window Service, Web Service, Web App, Xamarin Phone & Tablet App (iPhone & Android), SQL and Database management, RaspBerry PI-solar inverter driver, but no video game at all yet...
I can't f***ing believe it! Now I better ace the interview process!

Congrats and good luck!
Be ready for some Crunch Time[^] though

|
|
|

Every years, plenty of dreamy young men (of only 49 years of age! that's me! ) get lured by the siren song of the video game industry!
Only to be crushed by the soulless capitalist machine!
Until the day a hero shall raise to save them all!
CONTINUE?
EXIT?
BTW, thanks for reminding me...
Mmm... we are in Australia here, not goddamn America, should be right? you give me second thoughts.....
Salary is good though, there is that.

The crunch happens even in Europe though.
But don't listen to me!
You should only regret the things that you didn't do

Yes, even when I worked in Germany the Crunch came because we had American managers involved.
- I would love to change the world, but they won’t give me the source code.

The crunch is already happening!
The little test they gave me to test my skills took a lot more than the advertised 2 hours, it took almost a day!

Go get'em!!

That's tremendous! Good luck to you.
The difficult we do right away...
...the impossible takes slightly longer.

I had to write a WPF sample pp for them...
Took me a lot more than the hours the HR suggested.. (I am rusty hey, no WPF in like 3 years now)
But the end result code is very neat loved it!
Also.. added some async IAsyncEnumerable and IObservable goodness to handle mouse drag in a 10 line method which looks totally procedural and straightforward.. Hopefully they will be both surprised and impressed!

Hi All,
Quick question if someone tells you to knock up a quick script to monitor a thing, you would think 'Hmmm, a Python job', I seem to have to use a thing called 'Script Runner' which seems to have a version of what you need, but not what you want. Is it a company thing or is Script Runner in the wild Before I started at my current place scripts were either Python or TCL. Script Runner seems to be a little out date (won't run on Win10 without issues!). So heard of it? I'll bet Dave Auld has!
