I couldn't help but feel I was reciting Shakespeare when reading that. Felt very ye olde Englishe.

Definitely, but also less boring.

In some cases less is more. Like this case... I think you definitely meant more
Also, "Audrey Horne" sound familiar. Was it one of the characters from Twin Peaks?

Getting old must be terrible.
I have lived with several Zen masters - all of them were cats.
His last invention was an evil Lasagna. It didn't kill anyone, and it actually tasted pretty good.

Getting old is inevitable.
Growing up is optional.

Well, first of all, it must've been months since I've posted black metal in the SOTW!
Second, calling me and my taste childish isn't exactly grown up of you*
Third, I know Audrey Horne, listened to them in the past, but there's nothing about a 4/4 rhythm and singing about leaving town and some guitar riffs that just have less distortion that sounds grown up to me.
Their album cover is comical, even!
In fact, I'd argue calling them grown up would be an insult to them as their whole rock 'n roll mentality is about rebelling against the establishment!
Maybe you're just confusing grown up with boring, which would explain your entire post
Enslaved though, now that's some exciting music (and hardly black metal anymore)!
Also liked Sahg's II very much (which is more like Audrey Horne, but without the boring)!
Their later albums didn't do it for me though.
Jörgen Andersson wrote: A warning though, don't play this if you don't like Thin Lizzy. Fun fact, the only Vader (Polish death metal) song I like is Angel of Death, which is a Thin Lizzy cover.
I like the Then Lizzy version better though, and it's also the only Thin Lizzy song that I found and liked.
Slayer's iconic Angel of Death (ANGEL OF DEAAAAAAATH!!!) has nothing to do with it
* No offence taken.

Grownup is quite boring actually, there's no confusion about that. So maybe black metal has always been grownup.
Not all bands can be Nanowar of Steel. You can say whatever you want about them, but they're not very grownup.
So think of it more as a reflection on how much we change when growing older.

All in your imagination I can assure you.
Sander Rossel wrote: Manowar is a joke to everyone except themselves, terrible music too
Yes, and Nanowar of Steel is an even bigger joke, and on purpose as well
Since you seem to have missed out, say hi to Comedy Metal: NANOWAR OF STEEL - Valhalleluja (ft. Angus McFife from Gloryhammer) | Napalm Records - YouTube[^] They're Italians if you wonder.
Sander Rossel wrote: And seriously, do yourself a favor and listen to Enslaved's latest album, you might actually like it!
I would if they could stop that silly growling. It's not funny anymore. (Except Meshuggah, there's nothing silly about Bleed)

Jörgen Andersson wrote: Since you seem to have missed out Yes I did, I feel stupid now
Still not as funny as the dead serious Manowar though
Jörgen Andersson wrote: I would if they could stop that silly growling It's still there, but not as much as it used to... Less than the regular singing even.
Jörgen Andersson wrote: Except Meshuggah, there's nothing silly about Bleed Bleed, Shed, Stengah, I... Awesome band

Don't, there's just to much out there, you simply can't keep track on everything.
Especially since most is crap to be honest.
And whenever you find something odd and really interesting, you quickly realize there's only one song that's really good and the rest is meh.
But lately I've rediscovered Nightwish - The Greatest Show On Earth Live[^] , they never were my cup of tea, but this is just brilliant.
