28 January is the start of the Chinese New Year: the year of the Red Fire Chicken
(not year of the Rooster as most people claim, by the almanac it really is a chicken year).
And if that's not confusing enough the Chicken doesn't actually become the zodiac until about Feb 4 (delayed crossing the road?).

That is sort-of reassuring. I was getting really concerned. The last time the year of the pig came around, there was a Swine flu[^] outbreak, and in the year of the horse the racing industry was crippled by an outbreak of Equine influenza[^]. This year being the year of the c**k...well you figure it out.
Cheers,

The next Windows 10 update, that fixes a long list of issues with Win 10, is not yet available through automatic updates. However, you can download it and install it manually, but if you do that it is at your own peril. I have installed it, but not yet tested it thoroughly. If you are interested see the link below for a discussion and a download link:

[Edit:] I recommend that you take a systems drive image of your current setup, before installing this update, just in case you need to revert to your existing setup.

Basically updating Windows became as error-prone as it was updating a Linux distribution back in the old days. I got what the 10 is for: it means "10 years backwards"!

So, they're gonna roll everyone back to the last working version of Windows (Win7)?

Hi,
My favorite Win10 guru site is Sergey Tkachenko's WinAero.com; here's his take on that update: [^].
Sergey has some neat small/free tools he wrote, such as WinAero Tweaker [^] that I've found very useful in dealing with Win10's endless settings.
I'm not going to jump ahead and update: had enough problems with the not-fast-ring-not-insider updates.
cheers, Bill

Thanks for the response, Bill. This latest update is a hefty one. The space Windows takes up on my system drive increased by about 2GB! And I don't have any restore points that could have increased the disk space.

The graphic is wrong. You don't have to obtain a licence to buy a car. You need one to drive a car on CITY streets, but not private streets, and certainly not to BUY a car.
The same goes for "Recording the sale". You are not required to record the sale. You ARE required to record the sale IF you want to register the car to drive on city streets. If I buy a car from a junkyard to use for parts, I only need to transfer the title, not record the sale.
But hey, if you're going to advance a politically charged agenda, why let facts get in the way.
If it's not broken, fix it until it is.

Nah new challenge is the barmaid(s). But that's not till 6. The hardest part of the challenge being you progressively get drunk as the night wears on, and it's actually their job to be nice to you so it's hard to tell if you're winning

I once dated a very sweet barmaid at my local. It was all very nice except it really p'ed me off that every other bugger in the bar tried it on with her.

My previous run at an old pub was 3 barmaids, I'm going to try to beat that.
