When you come back, here's an interesting speculation.
Carroll Shelby probably designed that logo as a stick-in-the-eye gesture towards Ferrari. He hated Ferrari because he felt they killed a bunch of his friends (other racecar drivers) because of Ferrari's over-the-top win-at-all-costs attitude. Shelby hated Ferrari with a passion that transcended any limit you may want to place on it.

I would think that the quickest way to decelerate the car would be to run in into a wall. 300 -> 0 in a few milliseconds.
Rather hard on the driver (and the car), of course...
