They may, however, deduce from the remain construct over which it presides that it has some sort of reference to definitions as it is followed by (ultimately) mathematical-looking prose. The Lorem ipsum is in a paragraph form - as though it were conveying some information.

My Downloads directory, like all others is ordered by file name - that's just how I like it. But every so often when I go to view it, it has had its contents grouped by Date modified. So I reset to no grouping and it reverts to 'normal'. And then at some other random time after a download (but not always) it will be grouped again.
It is only mildly annoying but I wonder is it some feature that I am not aware of?

Yup, it's REALLY annoying, and as you say: Every time you fix it, after some time, it reverts to date order.
I've Googled a lot but not found any lasting solution to it...

It does work. It just has this undocumented/hidden feature on downloads.

If the "feature" comes back after disabling it, then I'd make the argument that perhaps no, it's not fully working as intended...

I am giving an answer without looking at the link that accompanies a purported solution. The reason is that after a download, the directory controls have no focus because nothing is selected (nothing is selecting them either). So the raw order prevails until a control selection is made.
Different behavior than previous versions? I don't know. Perhaps the group was highlighted?
Did I get it?
