Actually the reason is that everyone of importance hides his money there. Why would you want to blow up your own bank?
GOTOs are a bit like wire coat hangers: they tend to breed in the darkness, such that where there once were few, eventually there are many, and the program's architecture collapses beneath them. (Fran Poretto)

Well, blowing up your own bank does not matter, stealing money from others, now that's a lucrative business.

True, but once that becomes a habit, where will you put all your ill-gained spoils?

You'll spend it; historically on women, wine and song (or sex, drugs and rock and roll)

Dad was at the Retried Orificers' Lunch yesterday in the Aldershot Mess. 90%, like my father, were too young to have served, but there are still a couple who served during WWII. Only one of those left who landed on the 6th June attended and he left early as he had a 'boat to catch'...

Quote: The young American soldiers who landed on Omaha Beach had the worst of it.
For several reasons:
1. The air attack that was to crater the beach and disrupt the obstacles missed
2. The swimming tanks (Sherman DD's) were launched to far away from the beach and got swamped. Gold and others released them closer to the shore.
3. The Beach head was not vital, I think, I will have to check that it was to prevent an Armoured division that didn't exist getting to the side and rear of other beaches.

As I go through the halls of the VA I see less and less of these men and women, most are gone but surely not forgotten.
Those that we do see are treated with great respect and I will spend a few moments this morning in remembrance.
