Lot's of noise, few facts.
Quote: Polio does still exist, although polio cases have decreased by over 99% since 1988, from an estimated more than 350 000 cases to 22 reported cases in 2017. This reduction is the result of the global effort to eradicate the disease. Today, only 3 countries in the world have never stopped transmission of polio Pakistan, Afghanistan and Nigeria).
Despite the progress achieved since 1988, as long as a single child remains infected with poliovirus, children in all countries are at risk of contracting the disease. The poliovirus can easily be imported into a polio-free country and can spread rapidly amongst unimmunized populations. Failure to eradicate polio could result in as many as 200 000 new cases every year, within 10 years, all over the world.
There is no cure for polio, it can only be prevented. Polio vaccine, given multiple times, can protect a child for life.

No, history. And that was worse than Corona.
Gerry Schmitz wrote: Same old, same old. Despite no cure, we won. That's not "same old". Corona is less aggressive for the moment, but it mutates more than flu.
You know evolution? The faster the generations go, the more mutations. And the more infection, the faster the mutations go.
And now, we have some people resitant due to vaccines; not a lot, but enough for the virus to adapt to that vaccine.

Vaccination news and COVID in general are definitely part of a developer's life right now. This topic is a bit of an emotional tinder box, though, so please tread carefully.
If it becomes political, or there are trolls (and I mean even a sniff of trolling) it gets shut down.
Respect each other, respect the site. ✌

Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

Calling people "death cultists" is not trolling? Did you not read Chris's early reply to this thread?
Not everyone in this forum, or the world for that matter, shares your opinion on the matter.

No. It was on the next page of the forum and completely invisible at the time I replied. If chris actually wants that sort of thing to be visible an option to pin something as the top reply might help.

And by the way, it is already in the description of the forum above at the beginning of the page.

Note: I am not complaining about the first comment you did. I personally don't see it that hard, but is my personal taste. I am just answering to your comment about Chris pining his post as a reason why did you answer liek that. In my opinion, that's not a really valid reason for me, because I think it is more than clear what a concept Chris has and wants for the site. And a lot of people agrees with him, me included.

Bad taste... yes.
Abuse... in my eyes, not.
The rest... just saying

This must be a use of the word "funny" that I'm not familiar with.
I take it you don't personally know of anyone who's died of the disease...? Doesn't affect you, so it can all be downplayed?
Must be nice to be you. No, I take it back. I'd rather not be you.

I see humor on both sides. It's funny.

You're putting word in my mouth. And you don't know where I stand.
All I know about you is that you're seeing a situation where millions have died, and you're seeing humor in that.
That's what I'm calling you out on. Nothing else.

The third side eradicated polio. And yes, I judge you.
