So, how do you hide an application from task manager? There are ways to do it however the only reason you would want to do this is because you're writing a virus so I see no reason to tell you how to do it.

I am required to submit a mail server project after approximately 2 months but the problem is that I can't decide the proper programming language that is most suitable for this project.

I don't know much about mail server. But one thing for sure, you must also consider whether you have to learn new language or not. Learning new language needs time.

Thanks for your response. I am not familiar with this at all. I process Medicare claims, and I use macros a lot. We use a system called EDNET which is out of Planto, TX. We now have two different (programs) that we can use. They both are EDSNET, but we will eventually do away with the old one. In our old system I could make my own macros. It used Visual Basic and all I had to do is select macros on the toolbar and start recording then stop recording. It would record paste/copy, enter, and all the steps I preformed even moving from screen to screen. Now we are using something different. It is basically the same, but without most of the perks from the old one. We have the unlimited ability to make enhancements. We have someone in Agusta that just needs specific details on what we want. He did set up the ability for us to macro however they are very limited and a truely a waste of time. We want it to be able to macro eveything the other system would. What I pasted is what is recorded. There are many steps left out that it does not record. Also, it will not record the use of the enter key more than once. Please help me, I don't know where to start. I would like to learn more about the capibility of the new macros. I don't know why the recording is limited. What or where is the first thing I should do to try to find out more information? Thanks.....

Hi ,
I have a problem for which, I found no solution till now. Would be very happy if you could help me in this. This is in Windows OS.
I have a C# .NET windows application running. I go to TaskManager and kill the process. Now, I want my application to be aware of this killing.I tried all the WIN API's and events too but nothing is fired back to the application.
All these Closing and Handle destroying events are called only when I close the application.
Please help me in finding a solution for the same.

Windows would'nt definitely support this. Had there been an exposure of API call from Windows trapping Kill from TaskManager, Spyware, Viruses and other malicious programs would become very overjoyed.

Only one way I know - you must write a driver that hooks a NtTerminateProcess, NtShutdownProcess functions exported by ntdll.dll. From user-mode you're not allowed to hook this functions.

This is not a language. What you have here is an XML format data file.
A picture is worth a thousand words, but it uses up three thousand times the memory.

As PJ stated, this is a data file.
I've worked on numerous client/server projects lately that involve client apps sending requests to a server app via an XML file. The server app then returns success or failure via XML as well.
Your example doesn't necessarily have to an advanced client/server situation, but it's definitely a file that is used by some application in its work.
(There's no way to tell what the actual application is written in by knowing that it uses XML files)

Hi I am new to regular expression, I have situation where I need to grab the value from the html page between the html tags and write out some where in that page. for example if I would like to grab the date between the open tag and close tag below. what should I do? Assume every page I will have Date_x0020_updated in side of open tag and close tag.

Use the method getElementsByTagName with the arguement "mso:Date_x0020_updated" which will return u a collection of those objects in the html page. Then with each HTML object call "innerText" or "innerHTML" to obtain the content between the object tags. No need for regular expressions to do this. or if getElementsByTagName is not available and you are using the HTMLDOM then try the document.all.tags("mso:Date_x0020_updated") to get a collection of objects and then for each item in the collection use innerText or innerHTML.

Suppose I want an application which takes a source file and outputs its data members and functions.
Supposed to develop into a kind of class view explorer.
Regarding parsing the source file ....
should i go for using regular expressions rules for this parsing or
should i go for a language representation in context free grammer[CFG] and use the CFG rules for parsing
or is there any other possible ideas for source file parsing

I need to create a method to collect the event and audit information from all of the computers in which I am responsible for. I have created a database, DSN, vbscript, and made it into a service. I am still having problems making the service part work. It will start and then stop immediately. The source is available if any one is interested in helping with this project.

You might check the account the service runs under. If it is LOCAL_SYSTEM_ACCOUNT then it might not have network permissions to go out to read the other machines. If it is a local user account, then make sure the user account has enough admin and netwokring privileges to query the other machine's information.
