Hello,
Thanks for your information. The 8051 series sounds nice and I have some experiance with them from college. I failed to find a C++ compiler for the board.. 
I'll probably have to get some decent budget for this undertaking of mine and I assume that it is an almost once-in-a-lifetime purchase, so I better do it good.

They're not the cheapest out there, but very reputable and have most stuff that you're lookin for. We've purchased alot of our robotics components from them. Of course, there are alot more resources, but it just depends on what exactly you're looking for and where you live.

Hallo.
Help me please.
I'd like to write a toolkit that would allow to work with fingerprint device. Such functions as getting the finger image from the device, matching with other, save in database etc.
I have a device and driver for it.
Maybe you can give some tips what to do for achieving this.
I've disassembled the driver's "*.dll"s and found functions that might be necessary, but I don’t know how to work with them...

What all would you troubleshoot if your mouse (Logitech MX500 LED mouse) started locking up sporadically? No mouse motion, no button response. LED still shining.
I've found that unplugging it and replugging it (it is USB) will temporarily fix the problem. It may fix it for 5 minutes to 4 hours.
I've trimmed all unnecessary tasks in Task Manager, looked into 'Run' in Regedit and cleaned that up a bit, but nothing looked wrong, and cleaned the dust-bunnies out from in front of the LED. The problem even recurred when I had the mouse plugged into another USB port after doing all that.
What else, or does it sound like the mouse is ready to die?

do you have a 2nd pc to test the mouse on? That'd help localise the problem. You could try using a differnt mouse as well.

I have a simple qestion that when we make a function
inline then the code should be embeddede in the main
function and we should not have any call done to the
function .
But actully in VC++ this dont happen pls try the
example , and let me know that if am missing to set
any compiler flag .
In VC++ __forceinline is used to force inline function
by passing the cost/benefit analysis .I have tried that
also but it dont work .
To test the code just go to the disassembly and if u
find any assembly instruction as "call" then the inline
mechanism is not implement by ur vc compiler .

Hello,
The inline keyword is a hint to the compiler, not an absolute. The compiler still chooses best whats good for you or not..

2) Functions containing while cycles will not expand inline
3) Functions calling inline functions will not expand inline

The are several thing who can reboot your pc, but I think it's probably your power supply, check if your connection with your motherboard are ok.

Hi,
I have developed a WinXP based application in .NET C#. I want to make sure that it only runs on specified set of hardware. It first checks the hardware IDs of motherboard, RAM, and processor. This application compares those values to what it is supposed to run, and then decide if it is a valid set of specs.
I can get these IDs from registry but registry could be fooled. What I want is to directly access these hardwares and get the IDs.
Could anyone please help me out in this regard? I don't know if it is possible in .NET or I need to write an assembly code for it. Is there some api or already available programme to do so?

I need to send a text file directly to a printer using the belkin usb to parallel port cable. I installed a generic printer so I could see the name of the printer port and then passed USB002 to WriteFile, but it gives me an error and says that the com port does not exist. Has anyone used this cable to send data directly to the printer through the parallel port and if so could you tell me how to do it or give me some pointers.

A Com port is a serial port, not parallel.
Did you install the driver for the USB to parallel adaptor (it is NOT just a cable)?

I use a USB port as serial port and handle it just like a serial port. Of course I have a USB to serial peice of hardware on the port.
The point is the port can emulate almost anything. If you want to use the port as one of the standard ports (serial, parallel) then you just get such a device. If you want to create you own device (you can) then you have a lot more work. There is a web site that is totally dedicated to USB programming for the making of all kinds of hardware devices. Try
