gadwin capture is also free, I believe both the above software and this one supports timed captures too, so you can just set it up to capture every 10 seconds to a directory and take which ones you prefer, or snap the shots one at a time which ever you prefer.

I'm writing here out of desperation, I know it's not a general C++ topic but I've been unable to find any smartcard specific forums after a lot of searching.
I'm trying to talk to an ACR30 USB smartcard reader via the PC/SC Microsoft Winsmcrd.dll api.
The smartcard manufacturer is ACS and they're good for obtaining API manuals etc but the examples provided just won't work.
The smartcard model I'm using is a AT24C16, which is listed amongst the compatible cards. This card is a memory card and PC/SC doesn't allow for memory card writing, but ACS have provided methods to do this and written a manual specifically for PC/SC memory card access.
for example, the following copied code (except for reader name) returns error code 0x80100066 "The smart card is not responding to a reset" ie no response from the card

I think this is a common model for smartcard developers, so I was wondering if there's anyone else out there who has worked successfully with this unit and who could give me some guidance.

Well, my last card (before the one I have) was an old S3 ( ), so I can’t tell you much (by experience) about the AGP cards. But now I have a 7800GTX and believe it: it is worth the price! PCIe, AGP is a dead interface, new cards are now PCIe only. If you're building a lowend system that you're sure will never be upgraded it doesn't matter much, but for anything where gfx performance does matter if you go with agp now, you'll need a mobo upgrade if you need to upgrade your gfx card as well. There're a handful of boards that support both interfaces but they all did it by kluging an emulation of one of them, with inherently pitiful performance as a result.

If you plan to use old mobo, then AGP, else SLI, if you are hardcore gamer or graphics desginer or an enthusiast. Check Toms Hardware and Anand Tech for comparisons.

Hello all!
As I'm looking for a new hobby to spend the little time I have, I came across some nifty embedded systems at some mechatronic labs here at school. Being educated as a technical embedded systems programmer, I thought that it would be nice to build some hardware myself.
After some thought, I chose a robot as my first undertaking to get into this. Right after I decided this, I found my first problem: where am I going to get all the hardware? Since there are is a lot of crap out there, I must carefully choose my tools. Some of the things I need are:
<list> Microcontroller with C++ compiler
Servos
Pneumatic or Hydraulic cilinders
etc..
So my question to my fellow geeks out there: do you know some good stores for me where I can get all of this stuff?

Mouser electronics or digikey will have the servos. As for microcontroller, depends on how much you want to spend. The PIC's and Motorola HCxx will have the cheapest test/eval boards for development and open source or inexpensive compilers. If your looking for more brute force, you can always get student discounts. I.e. ARM risc processor compilers are around $500 for student discount.

If u want microcontroller then
u get PIC or a 8051 series .
that are the most cheap and reliable
But later on u can get the damest MC
if u have good budget.
But i prefer that u get some Kit and then
start ur work ,that will be fine and worth
the expense

Thanks for your information. The 8051 series sounds nice and I have some experiance with them from college. I failed to find a C++ compiler for the board.. 
I'll probably have to get some decent budget for this undertaking of mine and I assume that it is an almost once-in-a-lifetime purchase, so I better do it good.

They're not the cheapest out there, but very reputable and have most stuff that you're lookin for. We've purchased alot of our robotics components from them. Of course, there are alot more resources, but it just depends on what exactly you're looking for and where you live.

Hallo.
Help me please.
I'd like to write a toolkit that would allow to work with fingerprint device. Such functions as getting the finger image from the device, matching with other, save in database etc.
I have a device and driver for it.
Maybe you can give some tips what to do for achieving this.
I've disassembled the driver's "*.dll"s and found functions that might be necessary, but I don’t know how to work with them...

What all would you troubleshoot if your mouse (Logitech MX500 LED mouse) started locking up sporadically? No mouse motion, no button response. LED still shining.
I've found that unplugging it and replugging it (it is USB) will temporarily fix the problem. It may fix it for 5 minutes to 4 hours.
I've trimmed all unnecessary tasks in Task Manager, looked into 'Run' in Regedit and cleaned that up a bit, but nothing looked wrong, and cleaned the dust-bunnies out from in front of the LED. The problem even recurred when I had the mouse plugged into another USB port after doing all that.
What else, or does it sound like the mouse is ready to die?

do you have a 2nd pc to test the mouse on? That'd help localise the problem. You could try using a differnt mouse as well.

I have a simple qestion that when we make a function
inline then the code should be embeddede in the main
function and we should not have any call done to the
function .
But actully in VC++ this dont happen pls try the
example , and let me know that if am missing to set
any compiler flag .
In VC++ __forceinline is used to force inline function
by passing the cost/benefit analysis .I have tried that
also but it dont work .
To test the code just go to the disassembly and if u
find any assembly instruction as "call" then the inline
mechanism is not implement by ur vc compiler .
