Hi
I have various web pages that perform lengthy operations. I use asynchronous calls and callbacks, and update the screen with progress. All works perfectly on my local box using teh development server. but...when I migrate to the IIS release server, the asynchronous elements all stop working. Ive got asnych code in codebehind and in C# webservices, and locally, they all work. On IIS they don't.
So, the question is - do I have to configure IIS in anyway to allow me to do asynchronous calls?
Desparate.

if u r using mozilla or firre fox then u will not able to work.. ur problem is correct in this case..
because in mozilla cross domain async call of data is not allowed....
or may be ur web sevice is not published on new server....

IE6. But problem is server side, not client side. Webservice is published, and also failing from non webservice pages, ie CodeBehind.

They are totally different things. They are not comparible.
DotNetNuke is open source web portal software. Microsoft Solutions Framework (MSF) is a set of business processes for developing software.

In the new ASP.NET 2.0 there are two ways to host an application. First way is to host it on IIS and second is to host it on the built-in web server bundled by default with VS.NET 2005. Selecting File System will create the web application anywhere on your hard disk and will use the .NET's web server. Selecting the HTTP will create it in the inetpub/wwwroot folder like the older version of ASP.NET.
As far as ftp is concerned .NET 2005 now enables you to create and open a project from anywhere on your network.

I am searching for log4net materials for asp.net 2.0 , and i encounter some difficulties.
I have added a web.config file to the project, and do like this

and i put a button in it and when it is clicked, it will run

However, I cannot find the log.txt. Or even I created the log\log.txt. It has nth in it. Please help. Thank you very much.

If you don't have any luck in solving your problem I would recommend using NLog instead. NLog is derived from log4net but is simpler to use and the tutorial material is better. I never tried log4net because NLog just seemed more accessible.

Using the .NET 2005 IDE simply right click the project and click Add New Items. From the List of the available items select Generic Handler and a .ashx file will be added. Hope you were looking for this !

Hi there,
I am designing a shopping, i have written class libraries for it, here all class libraries:
BLL-Business logic layer using reference of DAL,DALFactory,Model
DAL-Using DataAccess Application Blocks jan 2006(using IDAL,Model)
IDAL-Implements Interfacesof DAL(using Model)
Model-Business Objects (using IDAL)
DalFactory-Loads an assembly (Loades an assembly and assign instance tointerface) using IDAL
"Now when i compile the application i am getting this error:
Error 1 Assembly generation failed -- Referenced assembly 'Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary.Data' does not have a strong name cartDAL"
I have added .snk file in each library to give strong assembly name.
Few Things to ask:
I want to make shopping cart like Micorsoft Pet Shop 4.0, i have studied it and decided to go for class libraries, now i m stuck.
should i use Global Assembly Cache in the this shopping, but it will only use SQL Server 2000.?
*As i understand that microsoft pet shop has used GAC as they are supporting multiple databases, like oracle sql server200,2005.
If i use Data Access application blocks 2006, and GAC in ASP.Net web site, then can it be deployed to a domian provider like plesk?
When i should use GAC?
I mean if the scope of application is limited to only one database, then should i use gac?
Y micorsoft has used sqlhelper class in pet shop 4.0 instead of daab jan 2006?

Hi all
i have a problem plz if neone can help me
i need to create reports form using gridview in asp.net so that it takes data from sql database and the columns and rows should change according to users choice
i.e if user wants to assign date time as x-axis and values on y-axis or visa versa he should have the choice to do this
plz if u can help m using vb as frontend

Reporting always a tough task...
so what i will suggest go for Crystal reporting or sql reporting(native of .net)
i have worked more on crystal ao i will suggest ... it will look little bit tough in the start but it is very easy to use...
