Hi,
I am making a web portal where in there's one section which is only visible to some particular users. Also there are individual pages which are in general accessible to everyone but the EDIT / ADD / DELETE functionality on those pages is only accessible to Admins.
Now I have a login page and once the user logs on successfully, I do a FormsAuthentication.RedirectFromLoginPage which takes me to Default page.
But now the approach has to be changed a bit. This representation would clear it.
Default page(open to all without any login initially, and a seperate link to allow the user to login for accessing special functionality) -> If not logged on, the user can move around but wont have any access for EDIT/ADD/DELETE and even the special section. -> Once user clicks the special link -> redirect to Memberlogin page and once authenticated -> redirect to default page yet again -> This time depending on user's rights enable or disable the EDIT/ADD/DELETE func and allow the special func to be accessed now.
How can this be achieved ?
Can we have FormsAuthentication enabled and instead of using RedirectFromLoginPage do a manual redirect and once user logs off, do a FormsAuthentication.SignOut() ?
Pls guide me.

Hi
I have a web-service which is created in VC++ 8, I only have the .wsdl file of that web-service along with some .dll files. For my local pc, i did access the web-service successfully by creating the virtual directory. But when i try to access that web-service from a different pc on the network, i can not access it. I get the connection time-out error, or the page can not be displayed error.
I also shared the folder in which web-service is residing but still this solution couldn't solve my problem.
Can anybody suggest any solution to access that web-service???

Go to the project in inetmgr and rightclick-> Properties -> Directory Security tab-> Under Authentication and access control section click edit and check the enable anonymous access.

Anonymous access is already checked. But still it doesn't work.

Hi,
When i was creating the proxy at command prompt i got the error like "wsdl is not recognized as an internal or external command"
Why this error come,and also why we prefer proxy to expose webservice methods,cant we directly expose?.
Plz calrify my doubts, otherwise suggest good link

You have to use MySql.Data.dll
Place it in C:/windows/System32 and refer it in your application.

This is the Select query that i am using while developing ASP.Net app using VB.Net My EventDate is in General Date format.But gDate is in Short Date format.So query not produsing any out put.

I think you want to make columns of the gridview to be invisible not os the datatable, right?

I think when you are binding the gridview at that time you can make them visible = false (Can't you do that in design time). Are you creating the gridview dynamically?

You use to scare with these looong sode snippets.. 
I think just after you bind the gridview you can simply hide the column by using
GridView1.Columns[1].Visible = false;
or also just when you binding the gridview one event gets fired just as onitemdatabound in datagrid there also it can be done...

I have tried this but its not working.

Its giving runtime error that index was out of range.

You first check whether that many columns are there or not. If you are having the columns then certainly you can make them visible false with that code.

What I am doing is taking 2 Bound Columns in gridview(which I have to hide)and then binding it viewstate datatable with gridview. but it gives runtime error.
