What you mean by runing application ? i am confused 
Is it mean that your application dll/exe then you can find that
System.IO.FileInfo fi = new System.IO.FileInfo("Path of your dll/exe");
long size = fi.Length;
it is only for server side .......
i think if you want for client side then you need to do in javascript again there might be some securities issues ?

Application means...
suppose a website host in the server..root directory is say x ,x contains all the files and folder related to that project. so i want to know the size of the folder x

Hi frieds.
I am working in asp.net(c#).
I am going to make one application in which there will be a fingerprint hardware at some locations . When a registered individual puts his/her fingerprint on the fingerprint scanner , the persons fingerprint will be scanned into the system and there will be match with the one in the data base. Once this happens, the person’s details will be displayed on the computer.
Plz give me suggetion or some link how to make it?
how to enroll finger by scanner n how to check it

to this
u need a fingerprint scanner..(hope u have ) then u have to read its apis from where u will extract the data... and save it into database.. normally these days these hardware companies gives this facilities...

Hi,
I am using the below code in my page, to call the Javascript function to open a popup calendar and the Selected Date will be assigned to the TextBox1. It works fine in my page.
<a id="idViewCalendar" href="JavaScript:GetDate('<%= TextBox1.ClientID%>')"><img id="idimg" src="../Images/DateImage.gif" onmouseover="" alt="Popup Calendar" border="0" /></a>
But Now, I wish to use this Anchor tag within the EditItemTemplate of the GridView. In that Template, I am having a TextBox and this Anchor Tag.
How can I pass the Client ID of the TextBox to the Popup Calendar Page? If this way is wrong, how can I proceed further? Pls guide me.
Note: If I am using the same code in my GridView, it gives the error like, TextBox1 is not Declared.

use the following line inside the javascript method GetDate to get the clientid of TextBox1
var txt1 = document.getElementById("TextBox1")

Hi,
Actually I am passing the 'Client Id' from the below code, when it is in Page.
<a id="idViewCalendar" href="JavaScript:GetDate('<%= TextBox1.ClientID%>')"></a>
When it is inside a GridView, then How can I pass the clientID of the TextBox1 (which is also inside the GridView) using the above format?
Otherwise how can I pass the "TextBox" id to the GetDate() method. Because When I tried as per your suggestion, It passes the 'null' to my Calendar.
How can I resolve it. Pls help me.

I am using an update panel in my ASP.NET 2.0 AJAX enabled website for file management.
inside the update panel I am using a Grid to show the file details .while updating the file info in edit mode , the file upload control is used .On clicking update the posted file is nothing . How can we solve this problem ?

hi friends i am using file upload control to upload image and same file i
am storing in database.I am giving image name same as user name means if user upload another image it will overwrite previous.
but while retriveing if image is of same type(*.jpg on *.jpg) it retrive previous image.
if i am saving image of other typr(*.jpg on *.bmp) Or If i refresh the page it will give proper image . what should i do.
even in folder which i store it appers updated image.

Check the image in the database is replaced with newone with same type. Might be image is not saved in database. Or you are not retriving the current image from the database ? When are you retrving the image from DB ? What you think ?

The image is being cached by the browser. When you change the image to one of the same type the name doesn't change, so the browser assumes the image is the same and shows the cached version. Changing the image type causes the name to change so the browser reloads it. Either don't allow caching (probably a bad option) or add a timestamp to the filename.

I am debugging a difficult application, that I didnt code, I have a problem - there is a bug somewhere in the application, that occurs before the page loads for the user.
What are the event handlers that can be used before page_Load, eg pre pageload event handler?

I don`t know this will work or not because i assume that the page is first rendered and then loaded.Try this
1.From the dropdown in properties window select WebForm1 System.Web.UI.Page.
2.Go to Events and double click on PreRender.
Now u can do the work to be done inside this event.

I think PreRender comes before UnLoad.
Init comes before Load.

Why you need event handlers ? i think are you confirm that all environment is set properly and check the base class if it is calling from your start up page

you can do with it using preload... but i think u should first look at ur web.cofig.. global.asax
some time they create problem... and it will vbe very helpfull for u if u put that error on the forum...
