Ok ..actually the problem is that i want to make my installation a very striegh forward. End user has to click the setup.exe once and whole the set up will finish with out taking any sigle input from the user in any case. so when i run the setup if framework is not installed then it will install the framework silently behind the screen.
Can i run third party exe from my installer?

What's the difference between Application.Exit(), Environment.Exit(), this.Close(),...?

this.Close() will close the current window and not necessarily close the application.
This should help with the difference between Application.Exit() and Environment.Exit():

i want to make a setup file in vc# 2005 in such a way that uninstall menu should appear in start menu so that user can uninstall the application from start menu itself without going to control panel.

1. Create a "Uninstall.bat" file and include the following line:
msiexec /x {your product code}
(Replace the "your product code" with your product code GUID.)
2. Add the BAT file to your application folder.
3. Add a shortcut that points to the BAT file and move this to "User's Program Menu".
4. Set the "ShowCmd" property of the shortcut to "vsdscMinimized".

Hello,
I have a problem with my site and I am searching for a solution for allready 2 weeks. I hope someone here can help me.
I made a website by using visual studio 2005. The website is writting in ASP and C-Sharp.
Its a really big website where people are be able to upload pictures, mp3s and even chat with eachother.
Info
The website is made for a computer without harddisks. In the computer is a flashcard with a webbrowser on it.
When the computer starts its automatically loading the browser with the site.The site is on a server. Every client has an account with some space to save some pictures or mp3s.
That space is on another server where I store all the files.
If I get this done it will give me allot of power. I hope I can get it done.
Problem
Now I want to make an upload system so people can upload their pictures or mp3s to the server by using an USB-STICK. So the filebrowser should be integrated to the website and have the same layout as my website. It also should go imediatly to the USB-STICK and should not see the flashcard.Another thing is that I want to do it in ASP or C-Sharp and not using javascript or somthing else. I wonder or its possible but I hope so :P

Have you tried to use the fileUpload control? It is a new control to .net 2.0. If you are using .net 1.1 then you will have to go with a regular html upload control. The code would be like:
<input id="MyFile" type="file" runat="server">

Here i customized a toolbar( article from www.codeproject.com by Pavel Zolnikov band objects) for IE6. i created everything for toolbar installation and works fine. but i have some issues left in that,
1. if client system may have browser instance already opened and working for any webpage. if client install toolbar then all the browsers should show my toolbar automatically. similary after uninstall the same have to remove toolbar from all the browsers.
2. at present after installing toolbar, it was listed in View->Toolbars. But not checked by default. after checked manually the toolbar is shown. but i want it happen automatically.
please help me to complete this toolbar.

Hi,
I want to build a MDI application.
The workspace of my application (MDI child) has some controls inside of it. In the mean while i want to be able to controls such components in my main application code.
How can i do it if they arent instantiated?

I don't think it would be a good idea to Access Form controls from outside the form. One of the approach you can take is define public functions in the child forms and call these from the MDI Parent.

Can I suggest that you take a look at design patterns - specifically the MVC pattern. Have a read up on it, and see why this is not a good idea. More importantly, a good text on the MVC pattern will show you how to solve this issue in a better fashion.
You don't want to couple up the logic in a main form so that it knows how to update/control the controls in a child form. That is the responsibility of the child form. All you need to do is tell the child form WHAT you want it to achieve, and let it work out how to do it.

Hi,
Iam working on a C# windows application having around 20 projects. I need to quickly generate documentation for the whole project.
I have heard of tools which reverse engineer the code into UML Class Diagrams. But i couldnt locate a working tool. After downloading a few, i came to know that none of them are actually performing what they are claiming to do.
My doubt is, can the code be reverse engineered? and Any tool which actually performs this task?

if you have the code and are trying to generate UML and other documentation, then it's not called reverse enegineering, it's rather called Generating I'd say.
if you do a search here on CP for "Documentation", (or "documentation generation") it will turn up a lot of results.
Visual Studio can't evaluate this, can you?
