Right, what the boss seems to want to achieve is unachievable, and therefore a waste of time and effort by the developers. Plus you'll wrongly accuse many innocent users and they'll go to a competitor's site instead.

Well the list is updated with all known aka names. I think my boss wants this as a sales pitch for the software. Purpose is to make it harder for someone to get the service if they are up to no good.
Yes someone can be denied service, but the customer owning the software can opt to use this or not in the settings.

Aloha,
I'm making a personal app. that can open a number of tabs (in a standard tabcontrol). Each of the tabs contains a webbrowser and the webbrowser automatically goes to a specific URL and fill out the fields on a form and click submit.
My problem is that I don't want to overload the site, so I would like to delay each tab opening a bit (10 minutes or so).
I have tried adding a Sleep() after each tab is opened, so the next tab opening (and thereby the next webbrowser submit) would be a bit delayed.
This works ok, except the event DocumentCompleted for each webbrowser aren't reached before all the tabs have been opened. All the webbrowser submit events therefore occur more or less at the same time, totally ignoring the Sleep().
Any idea how I can add a delay between my webbrowser submits?

You need a loop that has a combination of sleep and Application.DoEvents()
The Application.DoEvents() allows the application to still process events and messages. If you just have the sleep nothing will be done until the sleep timeout happens.

You should not put Thread.Sleep in event handlers (or constructors).
Instead, create your tab pages with web browsers that initially don't refer
to their intended URL, let them point to a simple home page instead.
Then use a timer (I suggest a Windows.Forms.Timer) to set their URL property or
call their Navigate() method appropriately.

hello ,
i am trying to save the PageSettings ,
from a PageSetupDialog form because , i want the user to select
a page size and margin sizes one time then by the next time that he will print the same document the sizes he chose will show as default on the
PageSetupDialog.
i have tried to do this with Properties saving the PageSettings in ....
Properties.Settings.Default.sticker_page_settings,
and after creating a PageSetupDialog psd = new PageSetupDialog();
i wrote something like:
psd.PageSettings = Properties.Settings.Default.sticker_page_settings,
but still , the PageSetupDialog displays the same default values.
any tips or answers are welcome , thanks evryone

How long is too long ? What does your app do on startup ?
The .NET framework takes a while to initialise, a web app especially, will take a long time to start on first access, then be nice and fast.

There are thousands upon thousands of C# projects redily available on the net to study how others program things.... any reason why you need someone else to do the google search for you?

look at the name of the forum and the code u've posted? See anything??
and well incase if your applications are taking time to initialize things... you should consider using a splash Screen at the start just like MS word has. and do ur initializations on another thread while the window is there. There are a few articles here as well... search for it.

That code is not very good. You are opening a new database connection for every single query you run, which is just a waste of resources.
Even worse, the ExecuteCommand method opens a connection that is never closed. Only if there was an exception the code closes a connection, but that is not the connection that was open earlier. Instead it opens a completely new connection that is immediately closed.
The ExecuteCommand is bad in another way. It catches any type of exception, discards it and just return an unusable value. If you catch exceptions, only catch the ones that you handle, and really handle the ones that you catch.
