hi guys
im facing this peculiar problem in my VB.NET application, if i open a form in design view, this below error is generated ,,, the design view shows the below error instead of the controls
any suggestions welcomed

Hi all.
I was wondering how to dynamicly change the web.config file to allow or deny users of a website.
Here i'm thinking of the:
<br />
<authorization><br />
<[allow|deny] users roles verbs /><br />
</authorization><br />
The reason for wanting to do this, is that i have coded a CMS System, and i want to give the administrator the possibility of making the website private while constructing content.
Does anyone know how to do this?

Here is the basic web.config settings:
<location path="subFolder">
<system.web>
<authorization>
<deny users="?"/>
</authorization>
</system.web>
</location>
Where path is pointing to a subfolder in your website. Or you can point to "." for the whole web site.

First off, i'd like to thank you for trying to help me out with my problem.
I am not sure if i made it clear enough what i want to do.
I know how to create an entry in the web.config, as you showed in your reply. What i want to do is to edit it "on-the-fly" from a web administration.
e.g., ticking a checkbox should make it say

<authorization>
<allow users="?"/>
</authorization>
</system.web>
</location>
and ticking it again, make it:
<location path="subFolder">
<system.web>
<authorization>
<deny users="?"/>
</authorization>
</system.web>
</location>

If your web site is .net 2.0 there are some things that you can do with a web.config. The downside is the work it takes to get the web.config to reload and see your changes and the fact that re-loading the web.config will re-start the site which will affect everyone currently logged in. I would say your time is probably better spent elsewhere and either manually change the config file or use iis manager.

One problem for me is that the website is in a hosted enviroment so i don't have the possibility of altering the ISS. I do know that changing the web.config will restart the application, and that is a sideeffect that i can live with. Then its up to the end-user to make the change at a suitable time.
But i am still very much interested in a solution?

Hi Friends,
I had a problem I want to share may be I was wrong.
I created a XML file myfile.xml and put that file in App_Data folder.
I tried to read out this file using JAVA Script
var xmlDoc = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLDOM");
But I was unable to read this file being in App_Data folder then I moved filt to myxmlfiles folder and I was on my way.
This shows that I can't read a xml file using Javascript from App_data folder of ASp.net
Am I right ?

NO javascript is scripting language which runs at client side if the server and client are at same machine you will be able to read that file but
If another machine/client can't read the file using javascript which is stored at the server.
By the way why you want to read that file using javascript

Hi,
Can anyone help me out in creating a resource calendar with timeline?
The Requirements are:
1)There will be resources(Employees) with start date and end date for a project
2)A resource may be booked for multiple assignments
3)those assignments can falls (Overlaps) on the same start date and end date or with in that dates
What i want:
I want to create the calendar( jus using the asp.net table component and need to fill in red color when the resource is booked on that day
and if he's overbooked ie if the days overlapped the color should be brown...
Can anyone help me please,

The Calender Component which you are looking for is available here in this link. And The ASP.NET code to program the Component is also available here. But the dll is missing.... I think you should ask your Company to pay for the Component if you needed...Anyway check this out. you will get an Idea how to Create If you are going to program it on your own...

amazon (in paypal client must have account on paypal). I need some

Install the dll in the Global Assembly Cache (GAC). it will be avaliable to other applications on the Server.
