My application must store some data on a CD-ROM.
I have installed EASY CD CREATOR in order to user DIRECT-CD.
In this way I can easily use the CopyFile function to solve my problem.
This operation work without problems but when the CopyFile function returns,
the CD-ROM Writer hasn't already finished to write data on CD (it has to perform the final write operations).
How can I determinate the real end of the copy operation in order to show
a meaningful progress bar ???

Hi there,
How do I draw a rectangle around my CMainFrame derived class?
My SDI application has **multiple** mainframe derived class. When I switch between them, I want to draw a rectangle around the frame which is currently active.

Although i couldnt draw a rectangle around the "frame", i could draw one around the client area, by the following code in the view's OnDraw:
CRect rect;
GetClientRect(rect);
pDC->Draw3dRect(rect, RGB(255, 0, 0), RGB(255, 0, 0));
But... fi I resize the window a few times, maximize minimize etc.. the effect is bizarre. Please help.. I think its also making my system sluggish. GDI Gurus!! Pls help

I haven't tested your code, but I suspect the 'bizarre' effect is that the rectangle is not being erased. Override the WM_ERASEBKGND message to clear your background.

Hello,
I am getting the strangest error. I have a VC++ application using VC++ 6.0. At one point in my application, if I press "Enter" the application just quits. If I press anything else of click the button to go on a next screen etc. .. it works fine. IF I press the "X" on top corner to quit, it asks me if I want to quit and quits normally. But if I press Enter on that screen it just suddenly terminates, completely blimps out!!
In Debugger, It goes into Wincore.cpp. For some reason ContinueModal() ends up returning "0" at the last minute. Until the point it calls it .. when I look at it in the Watch ContinueModal() is NonZero. But inside ContinueModal() looks like one of the pointers (WF_CONTINUEMODAL) is null.
I will really appreciate any help on insight into this. Thank you very much !

If it is a dialog application, it might be the dialogs default OnOk() that causes this. If so, override it and remove the call to CDialog::OnOK().

I thought I'd qualify the question a little more -- I'd like to develop a few Office Add-ins using COM (and thus would quite like to stick with C++ rather than going with VB), and with the possibility of also doing one or two COM components for use in ASP applications. Finally, I'd also like to produce a data access layer for a desktop app that will store data in an MSDE database. The main MFC desktop app will retrieve data via. this COM component, and the Office add-ins will also interact with the DB via. the COM component.
I've touched ATL only briefly before, mainly as a result of the Programming Visual C++ book by Kruglinski et. al., and want something a little more in-depth.

quite good, but it is maybe not for beginners.
Inside ATL, by Sheperd and King (Microsoft Press) is a good book to start with.

Yes, because system and user DSNs are simply registry settings. If it's a file DSN (not recommended for an installation of course) you could include it in the install, but I wouldn't do that personally.
Were you looking for a yes or no answer or details as to which registry settings as well?
