The environment in India wouldn't be that straight-forward as in your region. I might be low-voted for being an extra-frank though. But the amount of politics that prevails saddens an ethical heart.

I admit. Also, it also stands testimony to our abilities on how efficiently we are able to manage through (wade through) the political turbulences that we are thrown at.

If your worried about politics, I can assure you that the academic sector is second only to parliament.
The thought of working in an enviroment where a piece of paper gains you more respect than your teaching ability, and/or actual knowledge sickens me.
On the positive side. If you enjoy research, working at a university may (with board approval) give you the time and resources to pursue topics that interest you.

Hi,
I was just wondering, what the typical atmosphere a developer in California can expect? Are most developer/programmer jobs in California (the San Fransisco or Bay area) relaxed where there is a work life balance or is it more of a "your life belongs to the company" atmosphere?

We have an asp.net 2.0 intranet web application that provides a listing of the files on our file server. This intranet site runs on the same server as the files. Everyone has access to these files via the W:/ drive. So the issue we're trying to fix is that we want a user to be able to click on a link within the application to a local file on the file server (instead of having to download it) as the files can be quite large. We tried using a basic link = file///w:/test.zip but there are security issues with the browser. What is the best way to get around this?

Why Indian or Russian? Are other people not good or chopped liver? That's kind of discrimatory. You should really be looking for someone who can do the job well for you, especially for $90K

Hi All,
My web application is taking too much time to release the page after it loads completly.
Scenario:
I have 9 views in a single page and some views have link with controls in other views. There is no problem with the page load/refresh, afetr it loads the progress bar stays still for some time ie., it doesnt release the page to the user.
Maximum users in the system would be 2600, but as per my perception it doesnt really hurt the application, since it loads quick but takes time to release the page(Struck). Today only 102 users logged into the system at peek time.
Please someone suggest how to tackle this issue.
Im using framework 2.0, SQL Server 2005 and IIS 6 in Windows 2003.
