actually my requirement is to load that image to the image box that is kept on the particular position on the asp.net page.
the coding gives me the image in the separate page.
i want to have that image in my image box.

There is a control at the top of the page with the label Search, you might want to give that a try.

This is not an ASP.NET question, you'd find an existing library and then pass the bitmap it generates to a webpage.

Gridview sorting

Hi Friends,

I am binding a grid view using Generic List. I am using c#.
I am sorting my gridview and its perfectly working.
In my grid view I've a link button which takes user to the Details page of teh recod to view the page. working perfectly.
Problem is:

When your clicks on search button I am querying database with default order by organisationtitle.
then if user sorts gridview by post code and clicks on view detail link which takes user to the detail view page.
Now if user uses browswer button to come back on the search page gridviw automatically sorts the data by title but it should be sorted by post code as user last time click on post code to sort the gridview.

Please let me know if you need more details.

I'd suggest you need to put the sort order on the URL, so when you go back to the URL that has the initial view, the URL gives you the sort order. The other option is to use the session, but there's no need for that.

I found the solution.
I was using Gridview inside asp.net update panel. Removing it from asp.net update panel i got what i wanted.
I guess partial page request was an issue.

How to identify asynchronous postbacks in createsessionid method

I am generating my own sessionids by overriding createsessionid method in sessionidmanager class.
Can anyone please tell me how to find out if the current request is a complete postback request or asynchronous postback ?

AFAIK , SessionID is unique and 120 bit identifier that track each and every session request. And This number is generated by proprietary algorithm . and its secure enough to reverse engineering it.

I have multiple nested update panels and i want to generate seperate sessionids for asynchronous postbacks and complete postbacks.
I will be using the sessionid as a key for my custom caching object and the cached object will be reused in other pages.

Also i want to generate a different sessionid when the application is opened in the second tab in the same browser. Since i have update panels in my pages, if i am able to differentiate asynchronous postbacks and complete postbacks i will be able to generate a different sessionid.

I don't Think so, it is nothing related with ASP.NET

Yes, it is. But, as someone said, not using ASP.NET. you can load the file into a windows media player control and ask it how long it is.

I created a DLL (class library) on C#.NET (2005) and want
to use it as an ActiveX control on a web page (html).
I have checked the box for Make "assembly COM visible" in the
project properties before I build the DLL. Code does do much,

here is my C# code for ctrl

but is not working on Machine those dnt have .NET installed on them.

not checked on IE 6.0.

You need to write your control in C++ if you don't want your users to have to have .NET installed.

Removing source control from web site project

I have a web site project (Yes, I know, let's not go in to that. What's done is done and I wasn't here at the time) in a Visual Studio 2005 solution that I am migrating from Visual Source Safe to Subversion.

So far, I've managed to migrate all the projects and remove the bindings to VSS except one. The Web Site project stubbornly refuses to let go of the bindings. If I manually remove them from the solution file using notepad they reappear some time later. Since a web site project has no project file of its own I'm at a bit of a loss as to where else to look.

Can anyone help?
