I’m new to web development and asp.net and I have been having trouble developing some of the client-side script. I have created an aps.net project with two webforms that are in two frames in a window. The first webform has a datagrid and the second (main webform) has javascript that will updates it’s contents based on the selected value in the datagrid. I would like to execute specific script on the main webform when the user makes a selection in the datagrid. I would also need to send the datagrid’s selected value to the main webform. I can't figure out how to accomplish this and I can’t find any references about this process. Any input on this would be appreciated.

Is is possible to access an ftp server via ssl programatically especially when I'm uploading?
I know about the enableSsl property of FTPWebRequest but it doesn't seem to be working because it tells me that the Certificate given it was invalid even though I put it in the ftp server.
Still learning...

I am using asp. I will like my code to generate next button if my pageitem is more than 5.
it each each row it will only display 5 items. once the row ismore than 5 items, it iwll have next button which user can click onnext button. now my code is like this

Look for examples of paging. What you want is a limited form of paging, e.g. without buttons for first, last, previous and all the pages, only having the next button.

Hi,
I have a div element on one HTML page and I want to take the inner html of that div and insert it into an element on another page (the calling page).
This would be pretty easy to do w/ javascript if it all were on the same page, but I need to get the html from a different page.
How can I do this client side?

Use Hidden field Ex., " place it between the tags . You can get it using Request.form("test")

Hi, I can't make spaces at the beginning of a line in HTML using "writer" in visual .NET. I just want to write some text with a margin, is there a special way to do this?

You can use CSS to add a margin:
In your CSS file:

Hi all
I am new to this and found it by accident but was hoping that someone might be able to help me.
I am currently putting together a web page for a driving school that I am setting up. I want to include a page that has a calendar function very similar to that of microsoft outlook in the sence that the NEW customer would be able to click on a date and then a time and a new page opens allowing them to put in their details, credit card, address, name etc, thus booking the lesson.
In order to achieve all this I need the basic code which people keep telling me is simple but doesn't know how to do it.
Is there a calendar that is available that I can customise, my skills are very basic so it would have to be very close,or is it easier to start from scratch. A task that I know I could not do.
Hope someone can help

how can i call a javascript function using an onClick event like this:

and still keep my page valid xhtml transitional? w3c's validator says its not a valid attribute, and i want to keep my page valid xhtml transitional.

I have to do it for monday and I have not a clear idea on how to make it

PS: I don't know if it might help, but it's a class library that receives calls and sessions from a web app and has to manage them and do things with the cache.

i am trying to upload a file to an https server. when i use iexplorer (ms internet explorer) it works. when i try my app its not working, who would of guessed right. i have an http packet analyzer and everything appears the same as iexplorer. it looks like i am sending the exact same data as iexplorer is sending.

Hello everyone,
I am a complete noob at web programming. I have a text interface application written in Python which I would like to web-"interface". The application produces mostly graphs ... the text interface is object oriented, the user can define the curves that he wants to put on the graph, how the graph looks like and how the page looks like ( curve, plot and document object ). The configuration files are in xml.
So, what my web application should do, is:
to present the user with the posibility to edit different options
the language i will be using should be powerfull enough to allow me to group options in objects and be able to create new objects easily ( ex. you can have more curves on the plot ), should be able to easily work with xml files.
send the request to the application on the server ( and maybe be able to save request )
display the resulting image that resulted from the call.
Soooo, all I would need is some guidelines, because, since I am a noob, I don't even know where to start from and what to use.
Plase help and sorry for the noobness.

Normally, kicking off stored procedures wouldn't be a problem in my .NET 2.0 webapp, but some of them take an exorbitant amount of time to run. Since I'm trying to make this tool relatively friendly for internal developers, I wanted to use threads to monitor stored procedures. At the same time, I want to be able to keep track of each thread and see if they're still being executed or if they're done running. The main thing I'm wondering, is what would be the easiest way for me to create a pool accessible to the whole web application? I can easily declare threads per page, but I want everything to be transparent to all users using the web application. Any input on this would be great.

Hi All,
Here's one unique problem that I am facing. I am having a TreeView control on one page, which I need to bind to on the fly generated XMLDocument / XMLDataDocument object. But asp.net TreeView control only supports objects as DataSource which implement IHierarchicalData interface.
So if one wants to avoid an access to physical file to read the actual XML file and then bind it using the new 2.0 XMLDataSource object. How do we achieve this to bind an on the fly generated XMLDocument to be used for TreeView ?
Pls guide me.
