Hi,
what do you mean by "not working". If the date is not displayed in the culturezone you have choosen, you have to format the date using a specific cultureinfo.

E.g. for the german style (dd.MM.yyyy) use this:
dateToDisplay.ToString("d", CultureInfo.CreateSpecificCulture("de-DE"));

set the culture what you want (ie. USA, UK, AUS...) in web.config (under globalization tag).
if you want to change (other then specified format in case of date time format) then use System.ToString("dd/MM/yyyy") or
System.ToString("MM/dd/yyyy").. (you can use any format here).

hi,
i have create persistent cookie, this cookie contains details of booking cart (of say details of different rooms of hotel which get booked)
i want to finalize that booking so i click on 'Finalize' button, by clicking on this it shows another screen which get details of booking and clicking on 'Save' button it saves the details using same cookie....
now the problem is that, after finalizing the booking on finalization screen the cookie should get blank and the gridview which shows the hotel details should not display that details of that hotel in gridview....
but at this condition in my website,after finalizing the booking when i click on back button,cookie should not get blank and gridview also shows the record 
so how can i remove that cookie and make the gridview blank..
plz help me

I have some bookmarks in my page.When clicks on those bookmarks, it will jump to another part of the page where it is referred. This is working fine in the page while the application is executing.
However, when I am sending the same information through outlook to customers, it's not working (while clicking on it). It's not giving any error, but no effect, It just stand still. It is not taking anywhere. Does it because of some settings in Outlook? I am using MS Outlook 2003.
Please help.

In Outlook the named Anchor will not work I think. It is not a normal html page when you see through outlook. Every link will be opened in new browser window.

Thanks Abhishek. Is there any other way which I can make the link working? Through the xsl stylesheet, I put the anchor tage only. Within that, I put the attributes and select values.
I saved the page as mentioned in 1st step of Method1 on this^site. I opened the mail in browser, and clicked on the bookmark, it correctly goes to that particular place.
Anyway to fix the issue in outlook?
Please suggest.
I have just tested - the page is not working in either Mozilla or Google Chrome. It's working only in IE. Any idea how to make it browser comptible?

I don't think C# or VB.NET doesn't make much of a diff in terms of performance. Its ease of use and readability that makes C# more preferred lang for coding in .NET
That's just my point of view!

Both performs the same.. As during Runtime each of them are same (IL)
So there is no difference in the code either you write in VB.NET or in C# ...

They Both Perfome the same it depends how you write your code. The Best programming Practices in vb.net does not mean they will still work for C#

Hello,
Very small bit of background I was a Bsc in Software Engineering and 2.5 years working as a web developer, developing inhouse applications for a Hedge Fund Company, using ASP.NET, VB.NET, SQL Server etc. For the last year and a bit I have taken a career break but I am now looking into getting back into programming.
I feel pretty lost after a year and a half with literally no programming so I was thinking of getting a ASP.NET book and working through it before I get back into looking for a job. I was looking at Wrox Professional ASP.NET 3.5 in C# and VB.NET, has anyone worked their way through this book? Is this to indepth a book to get me back into programming? any other recommendations?
Also I wanted to ask if there is any new technologies I should be studying that are coming out that I am not aware of? I was thinking I need to get to grips with C# (seems to be the backend code of choice), AJAX controls, LINQ and VS 2008 and .Net3.5, I am I missing anything here.

If I had the time, I might consider becoming a contributor to an Open Source project. You would get real-world development experience and help the Open Source movement. (Also a nice thing to put on your resume ...)

"Managed Code" is what Visual Basic .NET and C# compilers create.CLR able to understand it. It compiles to Intermediate Language (IL), not to machine code that could run directly on your computer.
Where as "Unmanaged code" is what you use to make before Visual Studio .NET 2002 was released. Visual Basic 6, Visual C++ 6, even that 15-year old C compiler you may still have kicking around on your hard drive all produced unmanaged code. It compiled directly to machine code that ran on the machine where you compiled it.

Managed code : the code which run under the control of CLR is managed code.
UnManaged Code : Which dosenot run under the control of CLR.

Now the challenge is on my development server the deny tag works fine i.e when an anonymous
user try to access pages
which are there in MyAcc folder,the user gets redirected
to login page.
On the other hand on production site,the anonymous user is able to access the pages of MyAcc folder.
Please suggest what could be wrong.Is there any other way to secure thge pages from anonymnous access.
