Welcome to the world of writing software on contract to the U.S. Federal Government.

I work for a large defense contractor. Often time, software is developed as a proof-of-concept or a prototype for the "real" project, which will come later. Unfortunately, that means a lot of it is never touched again. After five years there, I have a directory with about two dozen programs, most of which were subsequently abandoned.

Your (and my) tax dollars at work, I'm afraid.
