I've used Canon for many years, I'd recommend a Canon 600D at about that price, but I've nothing against Nikon!

just based on lens selection, i'd say Nikon (50+ years of lenses available for the Nikon F-mount). but if you think you'd be happy with the lenses Samsung has available, then that's a moot point.
the Samsung does look like pretty cool.

Well it depends, this is not exactly the same technology, NX300 is an hybrid, the D3200 is a SLR, and the price is quite different.
The NX300 is really good if you also want to make video: the compactness helps a lot. It has an awesome picture quality, and maybe only a bad flash for its price, and it is not the fastest. But the rest is excellent. A cheaper but also very good alternative is the Sony Nex-3N.
The D3200 is cheaper, but actually a bit expensive for what it delivers. It is known to have technical glitches, and is also a bit slow for SLR. Quality is more than sufficient, unless you are one of these real picture hobbyists. As a better trade off I'd recommend a Canon EOS 700D (or even a 650D if you still find one) in the same price range than the NX300.

I've not used the Nikon, but the Nikon SLR has an established history of being a great camera plus the lens options will insure you can take any picture you want.
Common sense is admitting there is cause and effect and that you can exert some control over what you understand.

I started with a D5000 and outgrew it in about 2 years and just recently bought a refurbished D7000 at a drastically reduced price. I've seen them really cheap and if you wait you can get one refurbished for about the same price as a new D3200.
But either way you go I would recommend the Nikon as you will find more and better lenses for it then the Samsung and glass is what counts!

The Samsung is a complete no go for me.
The lack of viewfinder makes it an overpriced compactcamera, that isn't very compact.
I could actually think of buying the opposite, a "compact camera" with a fixed lens and a viewfinder, and I mean a pentaprism, not a f***ing monitor in the viewfinder.
And to top it off, AMOLED monitors don't have or keep a correct colour.

For those of us who finish work for the week today (in the UK it is a school holiday next weeks so some may be off for longer), anyone got anything fun lined up. For once I have, in my own small way, and am pissing off extra early this afternoon as the first part is going to be horrendous, driving up the M6 to Manchester on a Friday afternoon / evening.
For you see I have won two tickets to go and see The Cult this evening. My favourite band but one for a variety of reasons I have never managed to see play live before despite a number of near misses.
Tomorrow morning I am going swimming with my daughter before a spot of lunch then off to watch the resurgent Derby County with my dad in the afternoon, stopping before and after the game in a couple of excellent Real Ale pubs.
So, I'm off for the weekend in an hour, and until Saturday evening I'll only be stopping for a brief sleep at home much, much later tonight.

We have our Rugby Club Bonfire & Firework Extravaganza tomorrow evening, coupled with a friend of Mrs Wife's staying for the weekend. I shall be hiding, as usual, with Mr G in a quiet corner trying not to get drunk noticed.
