This is because you will approximately get to keep one half of what you will be earning, the rest is for taxes  . This means you will get in the end about as much as what you had been earning so far. The question is: is that OK for you, or do you want to charge more ?

Actually not quite so bad as all that, there is a relatively new status for self-employed here called an "auto-entrepreneur" where if you keep your annual turnover below a limit (32700€) you pay a global health insurance/income tax contribution of 26% on 69% of your earnings. Works out at about 18%. No VAT either.
Maybe I should wait and see how much they offer first.

That turnover is very low, considering it is ... turnover, and not benefit. Then again, I do not know how much time a week you want to work, so if this is not a full job, it might make the trick.
Just check if you have all the conditions for working under retirement, I heard about bad experiences as well.

Yes, I know, works out at about 2750€/month. But this is on top of my pension benefits, in fact if I go over that turnover they would take away a huge chunk of the retirement. On the other hand, within this limit, this system allows you to earn without losing any pension at all.

Right so I'm trying to use a certain piece of software called Bugzilla.
It needs MySQL. No problem. Got it. Installed. Need apache or IIS configuration. Done. Now I need to install ActivePerl and the MySQL driver.
Active Perl done. Package not found for DBD-MySQL.
Search on the net and find some advice which basically redirects to the information of the same command "ppm install DBD-mysql".
Argh! Trying some CPAN stuff does not work either.
Why does it have to be that complicated to use a software?!

Doh. Sorry. I updated to both W8.1 and WP8.1 and for some reason I thought the OP was asking about W8.1. Be prepared to wait for a very long time while your updated to WP8.1 takes place - it's a fairly major rewrite so it takes a long time to install. Cortana is very good and she doesn't have too much trouble with my accent which is a major advancement over Siri.

I've signed up for Developer Preview so I was able to update my Lumia 720 to WP 8.1 last night. The update was in two steps, a small update that took few minutes to download and update that 'readied' the phone to 8.1 and then a huge update that took more than an hour. Overall, the new WP 8.1 is terrific.
Pros:
1. New Start Screen with more tiles (six small blocks across insead of 4) and an option to set a background image.
2. Option to install new apps and move existing apps to SD Card.
3. Phone + Skype integration: You can convert you normal phone call to a Skype video call
4. Music & Videos has been separated into separate hubs.
5. Action Center for viewing common settings and notifications by swiping from top to bottom.
Cons:
1. No Cortana for Non-US residents.

well there is ways to get her if you are ready to change the region and language. By the way how is the battery life. for me first two days it was really bad (8H)on my L1520 but now it's back to normal of 24H cycle

When I have a non-text window (or, indeed, no window at all) open in a project in VS, why can't I search using Find in Files? Why do I need to open a text file first?

When you do not have any searchable window open still you can use find in files. In Find in Files we have option to look in current project or entire solution. You can use Ctrl + F to open find in files
|

When I do that the find button is disabled
|

Thing I noticed in VS2013 recently is that I couldn't drag a text file into the editor. Not very good.

I just tried it in VS2010 and it works fine, from the menu, from the keyboard, from the search pane.
That's in the design view of a WinForms form, the Resources page, even the Properties page.

Open some xaml - viewing the Design not the Xaml
Ctrl-Shift-F
The find and replace dialog appears, with the Find All button disabled.
The same happens if, for example, I have my memory profiler open and active in a tab
