Because the fuel hats live under the back seat, and we have to modify them. The passenger side needs a return line added, and the driver's side is where the OEM pressure regulator lives (we have to disable the regulator because we're adding our own adjustable one).

Always good fun, that. I used to have a motorcycle where you had to dismantle the exhaust system and rear brake in order to change the tyres...
Come the think about it, nearly everything on that Moto Guzzi needed the exhaust system dismantled: even removing the pillion seat....

I had to do that on my Harley too, but only because I added dual side-exhaust to it. I think with the factory exhaust, you could change the rear tire without messing with hassle.

I live in a non-smog county.
It baffles me that so many people are concerned about this. I already stated the car will be an earth killer.

My concern was only in getting it to pass and was curious if they grandfathered it in or if you had to deal with it. (Years ago, I had an Olds station wagon with a 455 Rocket engine. My mechanics used to complain how it passed emissions even without being given the age adjustment. Unfortunately, that engine was finicky as hell. Ending up selling the car to a demolition derby guy who sold the engine to one of the same mechanics! [He used short blocks for his derby cars since that gave him about 18 inches to the front of the engine compartment.])

I just have to deal with it. It's not hard to make old tech as clean as new tech. It's just the new tech does it without messing with it, whereas the old tech needs to be "tuned" to do it. When it's "tuned", you lose power, but only until you get home and un-tune it.
Fortunately, I don't have to worry about it. Nudge, nudge, wink, wink.

I had so many such experiences building Booger Mobile that I wrote a song about it (to the tune of Don't Like Mondays), recorded it (badly) and posted it on the tube of you!!

The motor and pedals did bolt right in. We expected issues with the transmission, and we kinda knew what to expect, but couldn't take any actions to rectify it until we started the swap.

Yeah, the engine in BM bolted straight in, too (ie: the engine mounts lined up)... it was everything else that needed to be changed to accommodate it!!

Our transmission problems were minor. No real fabrication was necessary beyond what was expected (make a spacer, MAYBE use TOB spacer(s), and MAYBE modify the cross member). It turns out that we had to shave sopme material off the spacer (much more desireable than finding out it wasn't thick enough), and we needed three 0.187 spacers for the TOB (I got five just in case), and we had to drill new mounting holes in the crossmember. All of those things were resolved in a four-hour period.
We've measured for the driveshaft, and discovered that instead of having to make a whole new one, we can have my existing aluminum one shorted to an appropriate length.
We'll also be modifying the passenger side header so that it clears the bell housing (again, this was expected). It'll take an hour to "fix", and involves heating it up with a torch and using a ballpeen hammer to create a small dent at the point of contact with the bellhousing.
There have been no significant engineering challenges (and to date, no real surprises), and everything so far has generally "just bolted up". I've been planning this swap for over a year, and have gone through all of the steps in my mind probably a thousand times. In the words of one of the guys in the shop, this swap has been easier than any other swap he's ever undertaken (and he's done dozens of swaps).

What a piece of cr.. spyware is. I had a particular nasty one this weekend. "NextCoup".
it installs, it registers, it copies files, puts itself in the Chrome exentions, etc...
I had to run Spybot, unintall in Programs&Features, remove manually from disc, delete all occurances in the registry, uninstall Chrome and finally reinstall Chrome to get rid of it.
The uninstall is also very, very low, because it gives a popup:
Do you want to uninstall (large letters). Then a bunch of text and in that text: "Press Yes to uninstall and install another interesting program to help you, ...bla bla bla, click No to just uninstall, press Cancel to cancel the uninstall".
I mean I'm pretty good at this stuff (compared to the average user) and even I had trouble getting rid of it.
They should find out whoever develops this stuff, arrest them and execute them.

I watched a good Ted talk on this by Mike Hypponen[^] (I think that's the one, but would advise checking out all of his stuff), apparantly a lot of this stuff is written by professional devs in places like Russia/Asia who are hired by criminal gangs and paid a salary etc to sit and code malware all day!
Scary stuff!

That's the 800 lb gorilla (364kg) in the room that no one wants to mention. The identity theft and malware has gone to organized crime. It's just so easy. THE US banks, etc just don't give a damn unless (a) a penetration is made public and (b) it exceeds their fraud budget.
To make matters worse, I'm convinced that the US feds are involved as well.

I find the Windows Sysinternals program 'AutoRuns[^]' invaluable for getting rid of those pesky, hard to reach malwares.
Make sure to right-click and 'Run as Administrator' and be careful what you delete in there...it takes a while to gain insight into what should be there and what shouldn't.
