So, well over a year ago I bought a house.
Well over a year ago they started constructing my house.
A little over a year ago my house (and the entire row of houses) sank into the ground because construction errors were made in the foundation...
About three months later I learned that attempts to fix the foundation had failed and that the houses sank even further.
Last march, when I was supposed to get my house, they started rebuilding it from scratch instead.
And now, finally, after all this time, my house will be ready on the 18th of september!
Luckily (for me and my fellow buyers) the project was fixed price. We even got some monetary compensation for the waiting.
If I hurry it up I might even celebrate my 27th birthday in my own house.
Yes, I wasn't in a hurry to get out of my parents house

Congrats on the new home!
Have you ever just looked at someone and knew the wheel was turning but the hamster was dead?

Congrats! It is a nice feeling to be in your own home. Did you get some sort of guaranty (or independent review) that the houses won't sink in the future?

I didn't, but I know the length of the piles they used before and the length they used now and the length of the surrounding houses.
And some independent builders recommended the new length.

The next time there's a bug in your software that causes delays, just remember that you're not alone.

A three story basement
Would be pretty awesome, but basements aren't very common in the Netherlands.
They would be below sea-level and unless they're very watertight they would be flooded.
We had such a flooded basement in my parents former house. They actually kept it that way.

A woman and her husband decided to help police in Washington State (US). After the grandmother tackled the suspect to the ground, she taunted him a little:
"I whispered in his ear, 'How does it feel to be taken down by a mother of five and a grandmother of three?'", she said.

Police thanked Powell for her service and one officer gave her a high five.

Hilarious. Of course if a cop would have done what she did it would have been called police brutality.

This woman - mother of five, grandmother of three - at forty?
Me thinkith there be another story in there, somewhere. I'll see if I can call her when she gets back to her trailer.

Why would you want to pollute the purity of the bacon with Pizza? Just add bread, butter, and brown sauce...
