There is no much to say that will comfort you - only this: I'm thinking of you and your father in my prayers...
(My grandmother died of pancreatic cancer too...)
Skipper: We'll fix it.
Alex: Fix it? How you gonna fix this?
Skipper: Grit, spit and a whole lotta duct tape.

That's very sad news ... nothing can soften the blow of that ... and my heart goes out to you and your family (I'm a cancer survivor, fortunate not to have had any recurrence for over nine years).
The essay ... for non-scientists, for everyone ... by the famed evolutionary biologist and writer Stephen Jay Gould, "The Median Is Not the Message," was written as he came to grips with his own cancer and tried to make sense of the "prognosis statistics" he was finding [^].
Gould survived that cancer without recurrence for twenty years.
It has become a classic which is widely shared among those with cancer, and their families. It was very helpful to me in my own personal struggle years ago. I hope it may bring some comfort to you and your family.

Unfortunately cancer is everywhere now and probably anyone below 40 years today will develop some form of cancer in their lives.
All the best and strength to you and your family.

Condolences... lost my Dad almost 30 years ago to renal cancer, so I know. Someone posted already about talking to him NOW. I wish I had done so before my dad went into the later stages. It would have helped both of us.

Too many people that I know (old and young) are in similar situations. And words seem so empty when you have to face the turmoil of emotions that such news brings. Our thoughts are with you and your family.
