I also think you are imagining the Sun as being much closer to us than it is.
The Moon is a bit more than a light second away from us.
The distance to the Sun is eight light MINUTES, or 500 times as great.
So the Moon was one fifth of a percent, a factor of 0.002, closer to the Sun when the image was taken than Earth was. I think you'd be hard pressed to notice the effect of this difference even if the two bodies had exactly the same albedo.

But, does the position of the camera also count, in whatever small way? The camera is closer to the Moon than to the Earth. My answer would be: Keeping a much brighter object farther away from the camera would register more on camera film than a dull object kept closer.

Well, I'm not exactly building a model car, but I need some parts which can most probably be obtained from a model car.
This[^] is a replica of the helicopter which picked up the astronauts after the Apollo missions 8, 10, 11, 12 and 13. Our Member Coder (Hired) was so friendly to make a ton of pictures of the helicopter in San Diego for me.
It's not going to be a model that collects dust on a shelf. In the last months spent some time on building the mechanical part, based on the frame of a T-Rex 450 eith a raised tail, the tail rotor on the left side and a five blade rotor head. The tail rotor itself will not be accurate, as there are none available for a helicopter of this size. Here is a picture[^]. It still sits on normal landing skids for its first flights, still without the model body.
The parts of the body are made of vacuum formed plastic and show no detail at all. Stuff like antennae, petot tubes, turbine intakes and exhausts, hatches or windows I will have to model myself or get from other models.
Now what could I possibly need parts of a model car for? Please look at this picture.[^] It was taken after the recovery of the Apollo 11 astronauts and you can clearly see that the helicopter has windscreen wipers and rear view mirrors very much like a truck. The scale of the model will be 1:24, wich is very common for model cars.
Does aybody know how to locate similar looking parts, preferrably without having to buy a model of a Peterbilt and throwing everything else away?

You can try to catch his attention using the "@" + "John-Simmons-outlaw-programmer" as it is said in his profile.

I do remember Ol'66 being mentioned before here, was it you perchance you sir! Umm tried flea bay for kits opened broken up parts, I have had luck there in the past or try a kit markers web site and see if theyy sell the kit parts as spares (AirFix do)

Sure it was me. Good that someone remembers, but after half a year I don't really expect it 
I have already looked at Fleabay, but most model kits there are new and cost a little at 1:24 scale. There even was one model of a truck, but its wipers were simply molded onto the windshield.
An alternative would also be slotcars, which also come in 1:24. I have seen little mirrors and wipers for them, but none yet that look like the ones on the helicopter.

I'm sure you are a good teacher, and want only the best for your students, but...if you sent them all here with a list of stupid tasks (you know the ones "A group of pirates have...", "ranesh has discovered the power of compounding...", "A robot must move...") then you are an idiot, and you deserve to be beaten with a large stick until you wish I had never been born.
If you didn't send them here, then you need to control your students - because it would seem that not even one of them has bothered to try and do it themselves. Fail the lot.

Well, I wish the web had been useful when I was at Uni, mind you the fact that it wasn't led me to think my way around problems, rather than ask on-line. A friend of mine who is a teacher has got the stage of saying you will get a low mark if I see the question on any of the boards. The problem is the current way (certainly from the IT point) is how to use Office and how to ask questions of Google, some times I see questions posed I think home work then have a go at solving them myself and not answering the question just to see if I can!

I hate to say this - because it's almost certainly a hideous generalisation - but it would seem from QA that this is what is happening: the people coming "into the industry" are either not being taught to think, or not being encouraged to think. And at the risk of being labelled a closet racist a certain cultural group does appear to stand out in this regard.
Certainly, the number of posters we are getting that expect any code they find to work immediately without any changes seems to be increasing. Almost as if the increase in IC processing power is being balanced by a decrease in human processing power!
This is probably not the case, just that the number of people being "taught" IT is increasing, and the ones that can or do try to think don't post questions!

Perhaps it reflects the direction the industry is taking: just crank out useless "business apps" coded to spec, as fast as possible and as cheaply as possible. No thinking. Just coding. No programmers either, just codemonkeys, they're cheaper. The industry needs monkeys, so monkeys are getting trained.
