Win10 12%, Win7 52% - nearly 8 months after release...says a lot, really.
And with XP at 11%, Win 10 has only just overtaken that! 
I was surprised to see 1.66% still using Vista - I assume that's kiosks and such like.

I notice that you neglected to note from the same site that two full years after W7 was launched 50% of users were still using XP. There has always been a major lag in transfers to a new version of Windows. The current one is no different or worse than any previous one. To match W7 the target figure would be around 33% in 18 months time. Let's take a look then.

There is one big difference: this time it's free. More than that even: it's being "pushed" at people, so to not upgrade is harder than to upgrade in many cases. That skews the figures quite a bit, I'd have thought.

UWP does need some adjustments for PC gaming, and MS has admitted as much (the universalness resulted in PC mode inheriting settings that're too consolish from the xbone), but overall it is the right way to go for most software.

As shooting moms go, that's a fairly dumb one. Carrying a gun carries with it a responsibility to keep it away from hands not trained to use it responsibly. She failed in several respects the common sense test; tossing a gun in the back seat is not the best way to carry it. I keep mine close, on my hip, and if I have to leave my vehicle in a place where firearms are (illegally) forbidden, it's locked in a secure compartment within the locked vehicle.

The problem is that both the anti-gun lobby AND the pro-gun lobby have bastardized the true reason we have the 2nd Amendment in the first place. It's NOT about hunting, and it's NOT about defense against criminals. It's about having a final recourse when the government becomes tyrannical, or when the country is invaded.
To be honest, I'm surprised the shooting hasn't started yet, since both of those criteria have been met - in spades...

The alternatives are just as bad. The problem is that the government is too big and corrupt, and there is NOTHING the electorate/citizen can do about it. Elections don't change the fact that the American people will be getting screwed. It merely changes who's layin' pipe on us while we're bent over.
We are in severe need of a Constitutional re-alignment, and I don't see a viable solution that could in any way be referred to as "non-violent".

Urrm, why do you feel the need to carry a loaded firearm? I can think of situations I have been in where if some one had pulled a gun (or a knife) it would have ended badly as it was everybody backed down and no face was lost. Guns in that kinda situation would have led to blood shed.

Welcome to everyday life in America, and it's not because of law-abiding gun owners, but because of out-and-out criminals, or wanna-be criminals that take offense at something you did/said and happen to have a firearm in their possession (legally or otherwise).

I suppose being a Brit, (not that gun crime does not exist) it just seems odd that someone would carry a firearm as part of their 'every day carry', when I have been to the US everywhere has metal detectors to ensure you don't carry guns, knives, metal cased pens around. I once made the mistake of carrying my mini-swiss army knife and almost got stripped searched because of it!
