Mr brother, he of the rotting brain, was blue lighted into A&E yesterday for breaking the thermometer. It looks like they have the fever under control and he'll pull through but it will be hard thanks to his Republican Nomination Process* of an immune system.

'Tis not a nice time for the family. His elder is about to sit her finals and younger her A levels. Both our parents are ill with mostly age related problems. Our other brother hasn't spoken to him in nearly 10 years.
Life are hard.

There is never a good time for stuff like this, but I hope the kids can rise above their sorrow (and probably anger and all the other emotions that come to the fore at times like these) and succeed in their exams. As to the lack of communication from your other brother, well, families can be like that unfortunately.
I feel such frustration at not being able to do anything more than just wish him (and you and your parents) well. All I can do actively is donate to various research charities but it feels so inadequate. The fact that there are more and more cures being found for the various kinds of cancer is no relief at all to the grieving of those (of us) who have lost family and friends to the ***** thing, and no great relief either to those currently suffering the disease.
I hope the good wishes you are receiving here, knowing that others care, eases your pain a little.

Getting old is a complete PITA, my older brother had a massive heart attack last week after getting his latest shunt for stage 4 cancer. Doctors can't do anything but give him meds for pain relief. I hope he dies soon, he can't stand being bed ridden with no prospect of recovery.

Silly me, but how is that comic strip read? Left to right and then top to bottom? Or top to bottom and then left to right?
Each time I read one I'm not entirely sure what the proper order is. One doesn't make more sense than the other.

Hey, I like PM. I have had development managers try to direct me, and they mess it up. Also, better them than me. I will write the front end, but I like to have something that the users will actually want to use. Also, good PM will work with developers and users/customers to come up with reasonable goal for the next release.

Just like any other comic. The mundanes "fix" "errors" in the code, and then apparently push them to master, at which point the dev ops script deploys them to the server and breaks it.

I still remember my first boss. He thought, by just renaming the function name, the program will start giving desired result. For example, by renaming the function "SaveToDisk()" to "SaveToDatabase()", the program will start saving data in database. Sometimes he took our class -- "Programming is nothing but Instruction to computer about what to do". But he did not know that computer understand the instruction in a particular language, not in English.

The problem with politicians is that they are generally lawyers. Always thought maybe we should require a politician to have a PhD in history. Maybe then we would not continue to make the same stupid mistakes.

Good God. Have you ever talked to someone who had a PhD in history? Their goal in life is to achieve fame in their field by revising current historical thinking to mean something else. Instead of learning the lessons of history, they rewrite history to give the lessons they prefer.

There have been plenty of politicians who were students of History. I don't recall that any of them were better at avoiding errors than the ignoramuses.
Very few (if any) politicians were trained in the "hard sciences" or as engineers. If this were a requirement, we would at least be certain that they can think logically in one field...
