I always tell my kids that sharing is caring and that when you share you end up with twice as much as you had before.
I share with my friends, teammates and the world via my blog and articles.

I WANT TO SAY IF NEEDED SHARE IT WITH YOUR TEAMWORK BECAUSE THEY WILL THINK YOU HAVE A SPARE TIME TO SEARCH AND LEARN

When I first started in this business, I was of the opinion that it was best to share everything you learned with as many as you could. This was especially true when we started migrating our applications off the mainframe to C#. This was something I did at the time on a regular basis and it didn't matter to me how simple it was or how complex or awesome it was. The point wasn't to impress my co-workers with my not so awesome knowledge, but to share what I had learned in an open manner.
It only took a handful of years for it to finally sink in to that lump of coal I call a brain that no one where I work, yes, still, really cared whether I, or anyone else, shared any knowledge or were run over by a bus on the way back from lunch—including management whom I've had this very conversation with.
Consequently, my knowledge sharing over the last five years or so has dropped to almost nil. When I do learn something new or a better way of coding a particular action, I generally just save it to a personal email folder for later reference. When I do share it is only with one or two people that more than likely don't really care either, but at least they feign well.

Most of the times I look for the methods that I can use to teach something back to them! Most of the authors, even of tools and great stuff are recent graduates so they really do need a lot of mentoring. There are many libraries, articles and blogs where I have contributed by reaching out to the authors and telling them they might have done this in order to improve their product.
So basically, I share it with them While we are talking about this, does anyone here seem to have a good book (or resource) about DNA (how it works, sequences, a bit of RNA would be a plus point for that book)? Let me know I am in a bit of research about DNA stuff nowadays.

The team share would be better put at anyone who'll listen. Explaining often helps bring further clarity, too. Just like talking through a weird bug or difficult* coding problem.
Not only one facet of it is the joke-sounding one (although not totally untrue).
The other part is that even other people in IT might not be of a mind to listen to anything outside of their current task. That's a bit sad.
* 'Difficult' generally that implies only a brute-force solutions seems available.

If you are a true creator you want to see your creations take root in the world and flourish. Trying to get credit or reward tends to get in the way of this. Nevertheless we all have to eat.
